IE 7 problems with missing tabs,not being able to download

Hello,
A few months ago we made the mistake of downloading ie 7.Ever since then everything has changed.I looked alot online to fix the problems with no luck and I was hoping you could help.The favorites tab is missing and is replaced with a bookmark one(we use Yahoo as our homepage).I tried reinstalling and actually that is the only thing we can delete and redownload with no changes.I tried a system restore but it will not allow it.I tried going into the internet connections and it won't do anything when I click on it.All the way at the top of the toolbar where it's blue is blank and so is the very bottom except for showing an e.We use to have something pop up when we would download it,it showed up underneath the toolbar.The name of it I cannot remember.I think it was for downloads.From time to time I hear it but nothing shows.I ran virus software and nothing came up.We got a new windows search that shows the history but no way of deleting it.There are a few tabs missing from the toolbar,general or tools.When we try to download anything we get a thank you page telling what to do in order to download it.Usually a little window appears at the top left corner but within a few seconds disappears.If you could offer any help we would appreciate.
Thanks,
Amy

    Look on the right hand side of the screen, do you see a tab called tools? If not does the menu link show up on the top under the address bar?

This fix works for both missing IE7 tabs and missing Desktop icon in Display Properties. Good luck!

Open up a command prompt (cmd.exe from "run") and enter the following;

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /V ClassicShell /T REG_DWORD /F /D 0

This should sort out your problem.

Uninstall IE7 from the Control Panel -> Classic View -> Add/Remove Programs. If it doesn't have a "Remove" option then I'm sure you've also installed SP3. Just uninstall SP3 before you do IE7.

Please rate this it helps.

SOURCE: hi,

Hi,

Click the Yahoo! Toolbar "pencil" icon and select "Toolbar Options".
Open the the Yahoo Toolbar menu and check the "Enable Tabbed Browsing" box. Click OK and you should have tabbed browsing back.

You can also upgrade to IE7 or download Mozilla Firefox and use that as your prefered browser.

Regards.

I, myself have had nothing but problems when I downloaded Internet Explorer 9! I got rid of it. The best way to get rid of IE 9 once you have downloaded it is to go to Windows Update, click " view update history", click "Installed Updates" and once they all appear, find Windows Internet Explorer 9 ( Under Microsoft Windows, which is below Microsoft Visual C & Microsoft Silver-light 1, among others ) and uninstall it! It is quite very simple and IS the only way to get back to IE 8 ( If that is what you had previously, otherwise it will default to IE 7. BTW, very easy to re-install IE 8! ). For some reason, once you start using Google Chrome browser, it is best to simply avoid Internet Explorer! I use Google Chrome & love it! I also use Mozilla Firefox! Sometimes we must use Windows IE since it is the browser which came with the computer. But I would avoid IE 9 and just not download it again once you are rid of it! No matter how much Windows/Microsoft tells you that you need to download it! Hope you have your computer running efficiently again! arjay8tch (Richard Holt)

I have windows 7 which has IE. I used to be able

Two options:
1. Open Explorer by clicking the icon.
2. Just above the information (the content of the web page you will the name of the website in a tab.
Right click in the space after the tab. A small window opens. You will have a few options. Open in new tab, open in a new window etc. select any of those. You will have a new tab or window as per your selection.

2. when you want to open a new link in a new window or tab, right click on the link. the same window mentioned above will open. choose either tab or window.

Internet explorer always shut down prematurely and closes down

Take internet explorer's properties and then use tab or click from mouse and choose advance tab. Now click on reset and restore advance settings. Now click on security tab and click on default level and reset all zones to default lever. Your problem will resolve and if you have registry file problem then you should use combofix utility but disable any antivirus or antispam or antispyware and then use it .You can download it from the link;

Do you have addons in your IE browser, if so right click on the IE Icon and click start in NO ADDON MODE and see if the behavior stops.
also, the .net framework can cause issues you may want to reinstall the .net 3 update individually and see if your IE settles down.
There are so many things that can cause problems in IE. especially when you update it, seems everytime there are problems.
