Re: my tracks don't play in the recorded order, list I...
If song tracks jump or skip then it is problem of cd player like optical laser is dirty / clogged, and if track doesn't jump or restarts in middle of playing back then cd player is just fine, Please check cd creator software settings.

Look at all the tracks in the playlist that you're trying to burn to CD - is there a track that you've perhaps forgotten about still in the playlist, one of less than 5 seconds? When you press Create CD, you're telling the Alesis to create a CD from the WHOLE of the current playlist, not just the track you recorded most recently ...
If you want to burn a CD you have to make a master. For 2 cd's you have to make 2 masters, one for each recording.
The best way to handle this is to "create a song" for each speech giver and give each a name. This is because you can make only one master copy of a song before burning a Cd.
But another way is to :
1. Make a master of the first speech giver (who is on one track) and record to the Cd.
2. Make a new master of the second speech giver (on the other track) and record to Cd.
As long as you don't mind, the second mastering will overwrite the first one that you did, but then you already have burned a copy of that Cd!
Same just happened to me. I was using SONY CD-R audio 80 min recordable CDs. One burned 3 songs, the other 4 songs before giving me the "CD write failure" message. I tried another brand of CD-R, TDK CD-R, certified plus, and it worked first time. It played on my CD player, on the Ion, etc - works.
Maybe the CD burner in the device is very picky as to the brand or quality of the CD-R media? Try a TDK or other to see if that will do it.

Im Guessing Your Trying To Burn It Off Before Mastering It Which Means All The Tracks Between 1 And 10. First You Click Audio Cd Write/Play Then Select Disc At Once And Then It Should Guide You From There. I Hope This Helps www.Myspace.com/CrossRoadsToNowhere2007
Place cd you want to copy in tray A (EVEN WHEN YOU WANT TO GET ONE SONG COPIED ) Blank Disc in tray B . Program tacks in any desired sequence Press the TIME SET / PROGRAM button on recorder or remote..."WAIT" appears then "01" flashes to let you know the unit is ready for the first track. Enter the first track you want to program using the numbers buttons on the remote . or SKIP / SEARCH button on recorder. When the track flashes PRESS TIME SET / PROGRAM on remote or recorder. to select it , "OK " appears
This answer assumes you have the 2488 mkI and not the newer mkII because the process may differ slightly on the mkII.
To premaster you first have to set an out point for the end of your pre-master (the start point is always zero). Go to the 'Audio CD' menu item and choose 'pre-master' under that. You'll see the word 'mastering' appear in the top left of the screen to let you know you've entered mastering mode. Make sure you have the tracks unmuted that you want to mix into the pre-master and have all of your eq, panning, etc set the way you want. Then hit record and play. The pre-master records to a stereo pair of dedicated internal tracks. You can redo the premaster as many times as you like which will overwrite those internal premaster tracks. You can clone the premastered tracks to a stereo pair of tracks, export them as waves or burn them to a CDR.
fnawesomewes - You have to press record and play to record your premaster.
