SOURCE: The monitor cant view video

To use the external vga connector of a laptop, you have to activate it. In many notebooks it is Funtion and F7 (Fn-F7). In your notebook it may be F5 or F6, look for a monitor sigh in the F keys. The activation may sometimes rotate in sequence , ie, External + LCD, LCD, External... and so on.

SOURCE: Arcing around neck board

There is a crack in the neck of the tube and the vacuum inside is lost. There is already air inside the tube that is why the sparks are going to the pins. The TV must have been dropped or someone accidentally hit the neck of the tube

HOW TO SET BRIGHTNESS OF THE SCREEN?

Hi,

Dear User...

You can adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor to improve the readability of text and to make digital pictures appear more like they'll look when printed.

To improve the results when adjusting the brightness and contrast settings for your display, use Display Color Calibration. (Display Color Calibration helps you adjust these color settings and others.) For more information about calibrating your display color in Windows, see Calibrate your display.

The way you adjust brightness and contrast varies and depends on your specific display.

Brightness and contrast buttons on the front of the monitor. Some monitors have brightness and contrast controls on the front and use the standard symbols shown in the following image.

On-screen menu. You can change the brightness and contrast settings for some displays by using an on-screen menu, and then setting the brightness and contrast in the resulting menu. Many times, you can view the on-screen menu by pressing a button-possibly labeled Menu-on the front of the monitor.

Thanks....

I have problems viewing dark websites. My screen dim's, I can still read everything, it's just very dark. It also makes a humming noise. Is it something I can adjust. Cheers, Michelle

There is a small row of buttons on the bottom right of the front panel of the monitor. From these buttons it's possible to adjust: Gamma correction, Brightness, Color balance, H/V position, Color temperature, and Contrast. By pushing the menu button your choices should be diplayed on screen. If there is a choice of "factory default" try that and it will take all adjustments back to as they were when it was set up when new. You won't find buttons to match the adjustments I mentioned above. There may be just 3 buttons but by way of the on screen menu they are enough to acheive what you want.

From past experience I'd say it's possible someone has been playing around with the buttons and upset it's settings.

If you continue to have problems I can download the manual and guide you from there.

Monitor screen too dark. Some things aren't even visible

Adjust your monitor Brightness and Contrast and make sure you set it high enough to be able to view text and images. Refer to the monitor manual.

My monotor its all black but u can

This should be an (LCD) screen. They are the ones that usually have this kind of problem. You will need to take it to have it checked if the problem is the VGA signal cable leading to the monitor. They will check if it is properly connected or has gone bad. It is very unlikely that the screen is bad. When this VGA signal cable goes bad it could result in a totally blank screen.

SVA 17" flat monitor screen color is pink.

It's not a "windows" problem. At the bottom of your monitor there should be a 'menu' button. Push the button and use the up and down, right and left arrows on your keyboard to scroll to color. Get the "red" color and adjust it down. You can also scroll through to 'contrast' and adjust that. You don't need to pay a bunch of bucks to have this fixed.

I have had similar problems. It would appear that the power supply is at fault, not the monitor.
