Is it compatible with window 7?

Yes, your DVD burner is compatible, to ensure that the driver works without any problems, download the driver from here, or from your manufacturer's website if you have a pre-built PC. (Either should work)

There is no Win7 firmware update for my ASUS BC-08B1LT...can I use the Vista version? Please help

There is no guarantee that this will work but, under the hood Windows 7 is essentially the same as Windows Vista and as such Vista drivers will work just fine a majority of the time not all of the time.

After downloading the drivers, run the installation setup and follow the prompts as if you would any other time. If you are presented with any errors due to compatibility, cancel the installation, right click the on the install package's .exe and choose "Troubleshoot Compatibility".

The wizard will show a few common issues to select from and ask which apply to your situation. It won't allow you to proceed without selecting something, so if it's not already, just check the box next to "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now" and click next.

LG DVD gsa-h55 driver .inf file

I doubt that you'll be able to getmuch support for a product that hasn't been released to the puiblic yet.

The edition you have will be a Release Candidate which was released to developers to find any bugs. The RTM has only just been released to manufatures so that they can develop the drivers for when it goes on general release.

Basically you're jumping the gun a bit.

Can't read dvd ram disk

Well not all DVD Rom's are compatible for DVD Ram. Other problem would be the formatting. Windows XP Home and Professional can only write directly to FAT32-formatted DVD-RAM discs. For UDF-formatted discs, which are considered faster, compatible device drivers or software such as InCD or DLA are required. Windows Vista can natively access and write to both FAT32 and UDF-formatted DVD-RAM discs, however Windows Vista uses its own version of the UDF format giving compatibility problems. Vista also has issues with XP formatted FAT32 discs as Vista uses the CPRM features. Even though it is possible to use any file system one likes, only very few perform well on DVD-RAM. This is because some file systems frequently over-write data on the disc and the table of contents is contained at the start of the disc.

try updating the driver for your player that supports windows vista. if the player is not detected in your vista but detected in your bios try updating your bios as well. or you can try to do a system restore by going to start all programs accessories system restore. choose a date which you believe your player to work fine.
