Yepp, if you are lucky the mobo takes down the speed to the supported 667, if you are unlucky...it will cause you problems like blue screen suddenly shutdowns etc

Always use supported parts

Good luck to you

I have motherboard ASUS P5VD2-VM and i upgrade my ram. i try to bot 4gb ram 667 MHz (2x2GB) and my pc cant open and a sound like bimbbbbbbbb what i can do

Hi.

There is no reason why the motherboard shouldn't boot as you have got memory which the motherboard supports.
If you are hearing beeps then there is a possibility that you haven't seated the memory properly in the slots.
With the power cord removed from the rear of the computer try taking out the memory and re-seating them one-by-one and turn the computer on to see if it boots up. Make sure the memory sticks are clicked into place.

Good luck.

Your Motherboard will support:

2 x 240-pin DIMM's (4GB Max)
Unbuffered
non-ECC
667/533/400 MHz DDR2

You should be pretty safe with any main brand name of memory from your local computer shop.

ASUS P5VD2-MX SE recognizes only up to 2500MB RAM

Hi,

Actually you are doing better than you think, According to your MB specs it is only supposed to hold a max of 2GB (1GB per slot). The updated BIOS may be allowing for the additional 500MB.

If you would like to verify, here is a link to the manual for your MB:

P5VD2-MX SE Manual

See page viii.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi eibral2345, sorry but there is no chance the motherboard, Asus P5VD2-VM-SE will run the Samsung memory. It’s the old style 3.3V PC133/100 SDRAM. The new Asus motherboard,
P5VD2-VM-SE uses Single-Channel DDR2 - 667MNz or 533MHz memory. Here is a link to the specs of the Asus CUV4X: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=314&page=3
Here are the specs for the Asus P5VD2-VM-SE MB: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1787&l1=3&l2=11&l3=369&l4=0

Will the new Asus board fit in your case? It should!
The larger measurement is the height of the board.
The Height + Width of the new board is smaller than the older board.

Have more questions?
Good luck eibral2345!

4gigs ram

Switch sticks around in various combinations (2 gig in slot one, 1 gig in slot two, switch, try other stick, etc) and see if it is the memory or the motherboard.

2 gig ram stick

Absolutely, 2 Gigs stick of RAM exist. Unfortunately your motherboard's maximum memory supported is 2GB. This site specifies very clearly 1 gig stick max per slot:
