Question about PC Laptops
MY E DRIVE (DVD RW) DRIVE HAS DISAPPEARED FROM MY ACER LAPTOP (WINDOWS VISTA) - I HAD BEEN BURNING A DVD VIA NERO WHICH BURNED SUCCESSFULLY AND WHEN I TRIED TO BURN A NEW COPY THE E DRIVE HAD DISAPPEARED.
I HAVE TRIED SYSTEM RESTORE TO VARIOUS DATES AND NOTHING RESOLVED.
I HAVE CHECKED VIA CONTROL PANEL IN DEVICE MANAGER AND IT DETAILED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7530A ATA DEVICE
DEV TYPE DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES
MANU STANDARD CD-ROM DRIVES
LOC LOC 0 CHANNEL 1, TARGET O, LUN 0
THE ERROR MESSAGE IT DISPLAYS IS AS FOLLOWS:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.
WHEN I CLICK FOR SOLUTIONS NOTHING HAPPENS - AND NO SOLUTIONS ARE DISPLAYED.
IN ADDITION, WHEN I CHECK THE DEVICE VIA DEVICE MANAGER - IT DOES SAY DEVICE IS WORKING BUT IT IS NOT DISPLAYED ON MY COMPUTER FOLDER & IS NOT READING ANY DISCS.
This is a known issue check the microsoft website on how to work on this,. look for the part where you need to do something with your registry.
