Canon MF3240 Paper Jam - No Real Jam

I recently had a paper jam in my Canon MF3240 all-in-one printer. I followed the instructions to remove the jam, but after clearing the paper and closing the printer, the device does not recognize that the paper jam is removed. The red light keeps blinking.

I've checked repeatedly, and there is no paper jam. Yet, with the system still thinking the jam is there, I cannot do anything with the printer. I tried shutting the printer off, but that does nothing to solve the problem.

What can I do to solve this?

Probably the lightweight paper sensor is struck in its "paper sensed" position. Unplug the printer and turn it upside down. Give a few smashes on the bottom and/or the side panels. The sensor will (hopefully) fall back to its place.

Try this

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

I have had multiple paper jams in the past and resolved the issue every-time. This time was tougher, and I almost thru the machine away. Although, as I was disconnecting the unit, I noticed on the back side of printer was a cover. I pulled it off and there was bunched up small piece of paper. I took out and put back together and the printer is working again.

Tip

Canon ImageClass MF3240 paper jam fix

The Canon ImageClass MF3240 continues to show "paper jam" error even if someone followed all the possible fix to remove the jam. After clearing the paper in all access doors (both front and back), the printer still gives the paper jam error. Also, if you have tried restarting the printer several times to no avail and the red light keeps blinking, here is the fix to what is most probably been causing the paper jam problem of Canon ImageClass MF3240.

1. Turn off the printer and pull out all plugs and power cord that is attached to your printer.

2. Remove the paper tray at the bottom and let the printer lie at its back so that you can see underneath.

3. Get a flashlight and look closely for the sensor located underneath the printer. The sensor is located in a small square hole, just above the small black plastic "lever" (looks like a small hockey paddle) on the left side of the gray rubber roller. Move the lever so that you can freely look closer on the hole.

4. Notice because there could be a tiny paper shred stuck inside and this causes the sensor to detect a paper jam.

5. Get a small tweezer to remove that paper out.

6. Next, let the printer stand normally and return the tray back.

7. Re-plug all cables and start your printer. That's it!

HI, I HAVE CANON LBP 2900 I I TURNED OFF THE POWER WHILE IT WAS PRINTING , THE PAPER STUCK INSIDE, I TRIED TO REMOVE IT BUT I COULDNT THANK U

Hi,i recently had a paper jam problem with the Canon ImageClass MF3240. I followed all the possible fix to remove the jam, but after clearing the paper in all access doors, the printer still gives the paper jam error. Restarted the printer several times to no avail and the red light keeps blinking. Well here is something not suggested in the manual.

1. Turn off your printer.
2. Pull off all plugs attached to your printer back.
3. Remove the paper tray to look for the sensor located underneath the printer.
4. Get a flashlight and look closely. The sensor is located in a small hole, just above the small plastic "lever" (looks like a small hockey paddle) on the left side of the gray rubber roller.
5. There is a tiny paper shred stuck inside and this causes the sensor to detect a paper jam.
6. Get a small tweezer to remove that paper.
7. Return all cables and start your printer and that's it!

Hope this helps you as it saved me a big headache.

Also, How Come My Printer Won't Take the Paper?

Printer problems are a common occurrence. There are various reasons why a printer won't take paper. Printer paper sometimes can become jammed in the machine. It may be wrinkled or too big in size.

Computer Glitch
Printer paper also may be of poor quality or too thick. Paper may not be lined up correctly, and can jam within a printer as it goes through the feed. The power may not be on. Sometimes a printer that is attached to a computer can get knocked off track from too much printing, or a glitch within the computer system.

USB Printer Cable
Something as simple as re-installing the computer with use of a new USB printer cable may fix the problem, or unplugging the printer and then plugging it back in.

Printer Rollers
The rollers may be worn within the printer, and can't grab the paper correctly to guide it through the machine. If this is the case, the rollers will have to be replaced.

Cannon imageclass mf3240 laser printer paper jam

Hello there,

Hope I could still share with you this fix because this is where you need to look at when you think you have done everything to remove the paper jam.

That's it!

Problem

Hi,
Paper jams can be real or false. The all-in-one may report a paper jam when there is not any jammed paper, however, the solution to a real paper jam or a false paper jam is the same.
To fix the paper Jam errors please try the following steps:
1. Confirm that no foreign materials are inside the machine.
2. Confirm that usable paper is set.
3. Confirm that the paper is set properly.
4. Confirm that recommended paper is used, and the number of sheets set in the auto sheet feeder is within the limit.
5. Disconnect the printer power cord as well as the printer cable form the printer.
6. Turn the printer upside down and shake the printer in order to remove any obstacle which is stuck inside the printer causing the paper jam error.
Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges and check carefully if there is any small piece of paper which is stuck inside, if so carefully remove it.
7. Disconnect the printer power cord and press and hold the power button on the printer for about 15 to 20 seconds( this will release the flee power) and reconnect the printer and check.
