Bios password removal with broken computer

Putting your hard drive into another computer won't achieve anything. The operating system wouldn't boot in even if there was no bios password.
However, to remove the bios password simply often means removing the cmos battery - the small battery fitted inside the computer. Admittedly this may not be an easy job with a laptop.
If you do decide to remove the cmos battery, leave the computer disconnected for 30 minutes before powering it back up. Then go into the bios settings and check that the pasword has been removed. Then save the settings as 'default.
If this method does not work try downloading a 'bios cracker program'. There is such a program called ibios which you may be able to download at http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Decrypting-Decoding/CmosPwd.shtml
3. If neither of the 2 fixes above work, consider reinstalling the operating system. A fresh install will fix the problems. If you don't have a Windows dvd consider downloading and installing Linux Ubuntu. Ubuntu comes with its own version of office and is completely free. Read about it here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop

How do i reset the password when i dont know the original pw?

A password is required to install anything on Linux, in order to prevent any malware or unauthorized users from doing harm. In order to install the program you wish, you will need to enter your password, which is the password you used to log in to Linux. I am assuming your account has sufficient privileges. If you set up an administrator, root, or su (superuser) password when you first booted up Linux, enter that password.

A BIOS reset will not remove the need to enter a password for the OS.

You can get a solution here

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/passrecovery.htm

or reinstall the OS.

I want to install linux and have dual boot to my

You can try this to get the bios to default value by removing the battery. remove it for 30 min the put it back .You must fully unplug any power cable during the process. Or look to the motherboard somewhere near your battery there should be a jumper placed in two pin.if there is no third pin just take out the jumper then place it back .if there is a thrid jumper just place it in 2-3 position then back to normal position .do not forget to fully switch off your pc or laptop.you run the risk of runing your motherboard if u clear the cmos with powered up motherboard.

My compaq presario f700 laptop boots when it wants

Your system is damaged. You need to have Vista cd. (or xp, or linux, etc) Then you must get to Bios, or bootmenu. When laptop boots, it is on a screen what key to press to make bios or menu running. Maybe f2 or del, maybe f12. When you in Bios, search something like bootmenu, or advanced bios features, then - first boot device. Make it as -cdrom. Press enter or maybe page up/down to change it. Now you must save this by pressing f10 or some key for save, and pressing y. Comp will boot again and run from Vista cd. In its menu you have option repair, but not always this will work (If you doing it with xp, forget to repair Vista). Try this, and if not working, reinstall system on the same partition. Dont format drive, just install, it will give you no loss of data (with xp, i dont think so, you just have to format system partition, but if you have something on second and more, non system partition, dont format it, data on this second will be ok). This it for instalation. After, you will have old vista in some folder (With xp you dont). You should delete this folder when everything works. Do not delete the new one :) No, no, you will find it easy, it should be something like -oldwindows. Better to remove it, cos' it takes a lot of hd. After it all try to find some good antivirus to avoid situations like this.

HP Pavilion ze5500 - Laptop won't recognize hard drive.

Hi. Once I had this similar problem with a HP Pavilion dv9000. "No Operating System"; "Windows Recovery Console cannot continue because there's no HD present..press F3 to Exit". No progress with Safe Mode nor Command Prompt, etc.
Then I went to the Bios, change tab to "System Configuration" and change the "Sata Native Support" to disable, whitch says that by changing to disable the HD would work better if the Operating System are Win2000 and Win9x.
Hit "Safe and Exit" and the computer started normaly!
I relly don't know how or why. It just work.
I don't know if would work for Linux (mine had Windows XP) and don't know the Bios view of your laptop. But you can explore and give it a try.
Hope this helps.
God Bless You!
