Problem With Picture

Ok last time i posted my problem I did noot describe the problem good enough. I have already replaced the Convergent chips but still have the same problem. Here is a link of what the tv does, http://www.drealms.com/files/tvprob.wmv It does this intermitently untill it fills the whole screen. Then it will eventually clear up the next day and work again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It does this on all inputs whether in HD from XBOX Component or what the video shows is actually a composite input doing same in normal NTSC, Is the flex converter module the silver box that is also refered to the PIP module? HC5613T? If so is there a place i can get this used way to expensive new.

All I have replaced was the STK chips. I pulled all the big resistors and checked them and all checked good on the Convergence board. I am not employyed atm so having funds to puy parts to just replace has become a problem was hoping the video would show that maybe it was a loose or bad solder or something that i have read so much about. I have inspected the boards repeatedly for any visual signs. Thanks for the input. I wish there was a place to get some used parts cheap since the boards cost almost half of a decent LCD replacement

Convergence board with the STK chips have been replaced three times. I require a new board. Anyone know where to purchase one?

I had the same issue. The screen would shrink and then expand over and over. After thrity minutes it would correct itself.
After a few months of doing this it just broke - no sound and no videe but the power light was still on.

I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions or kits on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes.

To help others I documented the fix and created a repair kit and step by step quide on how to fix the problem. You can find it here. http://www.magnavoxhelp.com

I had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I replaced the missing silver box on the new board and I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce

Looking at the video it is a possibility that the flex converter module is bad. Does this issue show up on HD channels as well as non HD? The flex converter module up-converts incomming signals to 720p or 1080i.

How long does it work for? Did you try to replace the entire convergence board to rule out bad pin amp? Sets with digital convergence should have a totally rebuilt board to diagnose this type of condition. Repost all the problems you had up to this point so we can best evaluate your problem.

Why can't I bring red and blue convergent crosses together side to side? Toshiba 51H84

Convergence on those sets will never be perfect in all parts of the picture. Name of the game is get the best you can without perfection all over the screen remembering that when you adjust one section it often affects another section adversely. And if a color is going to be out of whack it is preferable that it be the blue gun since a misconvergence with that color is less obvious than, say, the red gun. Capiche?

Describe your kawasaki gas cap lock 1991Problem key turns, cap does not release

OK, when was the last time you refuel, turn the key to release cap, push on the cap down as it may have jammed or stuck, if still doesnot work, emove key, push cap and give it a good hand whack and try with key again and at the same time push cap down, that should do it. Good enough?

The projector is approximately 4 years old & on average runs for about 60 hours per week, 40 weeks of the year. After fitting a new lamp last October & resetting the projector, the image is still...

Additional information is required for us to assist. Can you better describe what you mean by "poor image"? Are the colors separated? Is the picture out of focus? Are the colors wrong?

Please describe the picture or post a picture of the screen if you can.

Thanks,

My picture only lasts a few minutes before the screen goes blank but i still have sound if you turn it off then back on the same thing happens

Hi,
Well for what you're describing it could be 2 things,It sounds like the lamp is acting up on you, basically if you have a generic lamp it could last you from 3500 to 4500 lamp hours and if you have a Phillips lamp that could last you from 6,000 to 8,000 lamp hours,Now if you have already replace the lamp and you still get this problem it could be that your ballast is to weak to power the new lamp.you can go to http://www.fixyourdlp.com/?click=52978 they have really good post and videos.

Good luck

Shrinking picture..

Vertical circuit problem. VERY common on Mitsubishi sets for past 30 years. The capacitors are getting weak. Have it checked out, aslong as the picture was good and clear before the problem. That just means the tubes are still O.K. Mitsubishi's ALL have bad capacitors all over them. Been like that for ever. If you wait too long, the caps will leak onto the circuit board and "eat" the circuit traces. It should be checked ALL over for bad caps and then have the convergance chips replaced with original sanyo made replacements.Very inportant! Take the time to find a good repairshop in your area. Talk to other people to see who they use. You're talking about $400.00 to do everything, but it will last for years after that. If you like the set, it's worth it. Just be honest to your-self when evaluating the quaility of picture you had and get a good repair shop. That's the best advise I can give you. Good-Luck.

JVC Picuture gets blurry

The ccd block is starting to fail. Thats the chip thats the eye of the camcorder at the back of the lense assy. Its mounted on a small circuit board. You can find the chip at parts.com. Its just a matter of dissassembling the camcorder and removing the chip from the board and soldering another onto it taking care not to over heat the chip. You do need good soldering skills.

RCA CONVERGENT PROBLOM

The convergence problem is likely to be in the convergence power supply which is located above and between the two boards which lie flat inside the chassis. The power supply has a chip on it which is a common problem (If it is not the transistor type then change the whole board.) part number on the chip where the metal heat sink is located. Part number may be STK 730-010 or STK 730-130 both number will work and must be unsoldered and new soldered in.

Panasonic PT51HX41E Colors are all messed up

You need to change the convergence ic's IC7001,IC7002 = part# STK392-110. Also check for any burnt or discolored resistors nearby. (about a $350 - $500 repair)

Rear projection 43" Tv

The black box with 4 large red wires in it is the high voltage distribution box. One red wire brings the high voltage in and the other 3 bring high voltage to each of the 3 picture tubes. If those red wires are not all the way in and tight, then there will be high voltage arcing inside that box and the picture will rapidly flicker. Make sure all red wires are pushed all the way into those holes and your picture should be back to normal. Convergence IC's will not make the picture flicker, so I am sure your IC's are fine.
