Can I upgrade the RAM?

Hi Johnsteck,

You can upgrade any desktop... I need to know the model and serial # of your desktop or laptop. ex: Is it an HP or IBM, and the serial # should be located on the machine itself or in your sales invoice. I also need your Motherboard specs (name and model) This is found on the invoice when you bought it as it should outline all the hardware installed with model #.

I want to know my model number for my toshiba laptop using my serial numbe

If you log into www.toshiba.com the programme will give you your serial number and model number automatically. Download Tempro and that will keep you in touch with the latest settings and drivers for your laptop.

Where is the serial number for my computer?

Use the Service Tag number, or the Express Service Code, (ESC), which is on the white Service Tag, on the back of the computer tower.

You may also have a Service Tag label on the top of the computer, or up on the side of the tower.

Copy and paste the above into your address bar, then press the Enter key.

By the way. The Maximum Amount of ram memory for EACH ram slot is 1GB, not 512MB, as Dell states.

TOTAL Maximum Amount of ram memory for the Dimension 2400 is 2GB.
(1GB in EACH ram slot. There are 2 ram slots)

Ram memory used is DDR at 333MHz, or also can be stated as PC2700.

The best Processor you can use is an Intel Pentium 4, 3.06GHz, with HT. (Hyperthreading Technology)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_4_microprocessors#Northwood_.28130.C2.A0nm.29

The best graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce 6200 O.C. (Overclocked edition), that has dual monitor ports. (256MB of graphics ram)

Yes, I know the processor, and graphics card are real old news, but so is the computer.

Anything I can help with?

I need to buy an XP recovery disk for a Toshiba A300-1NG but I don't have its serial number.

Your serial number is located on the label on the bottom of your laptop. It's the second number located under the model number on the label. Here is an example of a typical Toshiba label:

My laptop is very slow...

1st off - do a restore on the computer to bring it back to factory settings. This will clean it up and speed it up as well. 2nd you need more ram . Ram is very cheap and Vista needs lots of ram to run.
Thishis should solve your problem. Total cost to you is about $50.00

Toshiba tecra 8100 , says memory is incompatiable type?

the Toshiba Tecra 8100 only supports 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM RAM chips. It has 2 total RAM slots and can support up to a maximum of 512MB of RAM.

If you have attempted to upgrade the RAM on the unit, ensure that both modules are seated (plugged in) firmly. Also ensure that they are of the correct type (144-Pin PC100 SODIMM), and size (not bigger than 256MB each). Anything other than those types of chips will yield you that message.

If you (or someone else) have not attempted a memory upgrade on the unit, then it's entirely possible that your unit's RAM is failing and I would reccommend bringing it in to a repair shop to have it troubleshot / fixxed.

Hope that helps you, and please do not forget to rate my solution.

Hi, I have a toshiba sattelite a55-s106 laptop that I recently upgraded from xp to vista home prem. After that I decide to add more ram. The system is supposed to be able to handle 2gb of ram max. If I...

Vista will not be the culprit here. The beep most likely meens that thee is a problem with the memory stick itself, especially if it boots normally when you take it out again. Motherboards are mostly designed to take identical sticks of RAM in pairs (Same brand, same model, same amount of memory) and sometimes, you will find that different manufacturer's RAM will not work in some systems.

Check to see if the RAM stick you are putting in is the same brand/model as the one already in. Also check to make sure it has the same amount of RAM on it. It could also be defective.

I hope that helps
