Attempt a hard reboot of the device by holding the home button and the power button at the same time. Contact AppleCare if the problem persists. Also, don't use the iPad's charger on the iPod or an iPhone. It doesn't play well with it.

Change Battery

The battery life of your iPod is definitely diminishing
and eventually you are going to have to get the iPod battery replaced.

In order to fix your iPod Nano 2G by replacing the battery, you would either have to take it to an authorized repair service or if you are a daring do-it-yourselfer, you can purchase an installation kit from a website like, who offers such battery replacement kits, complete with tools and instructions.

Be forewarned however- Kokopelli Music does not recommend installing the iPod Nano 2g (2nd Generation) iPod battery without an experienced tech to install it, because the battery is actually soldered to the main board of the iPod.

However, there is also MilliAmp, which is a great online service, who for a small nominal fee, will allow you to send in your iPod and their professional technicians would actually replace the battery for you.

Here is the link for that online service for getting your iPod Nano 2G battery replaced.

Hope this will help.

** FEEDBACK- I appreciate you taking a quick moment to provide me some of your honest, hopefully providing some "Positive Thumbs Up" for the solution(s) I have recommended to help you with your technical request.**

The ipod isnot charging

hi there,

could be the battery pack is dead. a long time of no use makes the battery cell dry. battery needed to undergo the cycle of charging / discharging process.

it is better to replace the battery first or bring it into a service center for thorough checking.

Just let me know, if you still need more help on this.

IPod won't charge

Firstly check if it will charge from the mains. Then as you already know how to take the back off, check your battery connector on the logic board. Is it loose at all. Sometimes, if this is a loose connection you can get juice to the iPod but not back in the battery. If this is the case, unless you're really good at fiddly soldering I would suggest a new logic board. Otherwise all I can suggest is that you've bought a **** battery.
