If a CRT monitor press the degause button.Check all cable connections. Check if graphics card is seated tightly in motherboard socket. Test with a known good monitor. If problem still there test with a known good graphics card. If problem persists test with known good RAM. These are the things I would suspect first. But it might something completely different.

Hi Shiva003,

This problem usually arises when a line in your signal cable is cut. I suggest you get a new signal cable and the problem will be history. When this cable is cut you may have your screen appearing reddisg, yellowish or blueish - RGB combination that produce all the other colours we see.

Regards.

My suggestion would be to test your computer using a different monitor. You have to find out whether it is your monitor that is bad or your computer. If you use a different monitor and everything looks fine and you see no dots then you know the computer is fine and it's the monitor that is bad. But if the screen still show dots and lines even with different monitor then your computers video card has gone bad and needs replaced. I would not try to repair the monitor that can be dangerous.

Run Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. From the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree, go to the following key: \System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems
3. Select the Windows value.
4. From the Edit menu, choose String.
5. Increase the SharedSection parameter.
For Windows NT:
SharedSection specifies the system and desktop heaps using the following format:
SharedSection=xxxx,yyyy
Add ",256" or ",512" after the yyyy number.
For Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003:
SharedSection uses the following format to specify the system and desktop heaps:
SharedSection=xxxx,yyyy,zzz
Increase the zzz number to "256" or "512."

My screen has gone massive and the colours have gone negative. help me?.................. x

Hi,

That sounds like your video card has gone back into VGA mode, 16 colours and a screen resolution of 640 x 480.

Go into the display settings and try setting the resolution to something like 1024 x 768 and the colour to 32 bit (16 million colours).

If the adjustment cannot be made, it is likely you have a graphics card driver issue. Find out what graphics card or chip you have and download a new driver from the manufacturers website.

Hope this helps.

Take it to a repair store it will cost about $100 AU to repair as something is coming loose when it heats up this is not a home repair job.
