WIthout having the model number, I can't give you details, but the message indicates that a problem was detected in the final stage of the amplifier. The unit shuts down and displays the message to prevent further damage. Please update this with the model number and I should be able to provide more details and repair instructions.

Sony receiver stR se-501 found fuse burned after replaced turned on the flashing massage PROTECT come on . Did I miss anything?

Protect typically means that the fuse blew because something in your receiver went bad. It's now protecting your speakers from that badness. You need to get the receiver fixed or replaced.

To fix cpu on protection mode

I am highly skeptical that the CPU is the problem; protection mode is designed for protection of the amplifiers.

Use an artists brush to remove any dust and grime off the voltage rails and heat sinks. Reinstall the CPU and the chassis cover. Turn your attention to the rear connector panel; check for any broken or loose speaker terminals. If your speaker wires are still connected look for any stray wire strands and pull them off or bend them away from the connector panel. Check the connection for tightness, or simply disconnect any corroded wiring that you may not be using a banana or spade connector with and clip and redress it. Perform the same inspecting and maintaining procedures on all of your speaker channels.

When placing the receiver it must also have adequate air flow around it. Anything you can imagine that would allow the unit to retain heat increases the chance of it getting it into protect mode for thermal protection. Out in open air is best.
When the receiver is properly positioned and all connections are secure, power it up; it will likely still be in protect mode. If so, press and hold the power button down until the unit "clicks" inside the chassis; this takes approximately 15 seconds. Protection circuit is reset and you can now operate the receiver.

Sony Stereo Receiver - STR-DE425 Loud pop and "PROTECT" Flashes. When I turn it on and off several times it finally stops. What do I need to do to find out what the problem is? This happens...

Toggling power on and off is NOT a good idea, nor does it ever really fix anything.

Does the TV affect the receiver even if you have other sources selected or speakers disabled?

Establish if the TV connection or lack of it affects the problem by disconnecting one cable at a time (I have no idea what cables you use) to see if the self-protection is caused when the TV is turned On. Prove that each cable is or is not involved with glitching the receiver. If it still pops after the TV is completely floated from the receiver, consider a power surge as the culprit. Maybe you need to place the receiver on a power circuit that isn't shared with the TV.

Oh, btw, you're not drawing power from the convenience outlets on the reciver for anything that sucks up a lot of juice, are you?

How to verify which transistor is creating protection mode?

Take your ohm meter and measure the outputs one by one. with the power unplugged and the main board flipped to access this circuit. If they all check the same , no shorts , then You may have a preamp driver failure. Larry's Electronics ledstiles@hotmail,com

My Sony receiver is flashing protect mode

Disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver. Then power the unit on, if it stays on, post a comment on this thread and I will help you troubleshoot further. If "Protect" remains on, you need to have your receiver serviced. Hope this helps.

Monitor show " Protect " can't do anything.

Protect is an indication that one of the output amplifiers is shorted. The unit turns itself off to avoid burning more components. I'd recommend taking it in to a repair facility for replacement of the blown output amp.

Protet mode is a special diagnostic mode that starts when a fault is detected.

When in protection mode the unit is prevented from starting by protection circuit, so to prevent further damage.

Check the speakers and speakers wiring, a contact in speaker wires, or faulty speakers can send the unit in protection.

Try unplugging power cable for one hour or so. then connect cable back and see if you get rid of protect state. Sometimes accumulation of electrostatic charges inside circuit capacitors can kick in protect mode. In that case unplugging the unit from main for some times can get rid of electrostatic charges, and reset circuits by draining power completely.
If that was the problem, you will not get Protect when plugging back power cable.

If you do all the above and still get Protect, then there is a real fault.

In that case the unit may be disassembled and tested to find the fault.

If that is the case I suggest contacting the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual, or asking a quote on repair to a local technician.

Protection error

Your speakers or the wiring to the speakers shorted out, and a fuse inside of your receiver is blown. You can purchase a new unit or attempt to replace the fuse yourself.
