Is there anyway to get data off a corrupt hard disc drive

Yes, usually the operating system is what corrupts and the data is typically intact. You will need the following.
  • Hiren Boot CD Here Download the ISO file and burn it to a CD from another computer
  • An External HDD
With your Hiren disc in the computer with a corrupt drive, boot to CD/DVD. You will get the Hiren Boot Menu, select boot to Mini XPThis will load a live Windows XP image. Plug in the external drive open up "My Computer" and navigate to your data on the C Drive. Copy it to the external drive. Now you can proceed to wipe out your corrupted install and copy your data back.

Twinhead durabook n15r notebook

I would not put the money into a new motherboard, it would be expensive and in my view better to replace with new laptop especially when you consider the 1 year warranty that is provided ready to go.

My asus mini laptop ( notebook ) gets stuck at a black screen with a flashing line blinking at the top left corner of my screen and it wont move from that position...i lost my cd that came with the...

Hi. The problem you described is caused by a failing hard drive. Do not turn the computer back on or you may risk data loss. You may still be able to recover your data if you do not use the drive until you try and copy off your files. First you will need a new hard drive. Then, you will need a program that will clone a hard drive for you such as Acronis or Norton Ghost... Then you will put the new hard drive in your laptop and put that back to normal. You will need to get a copy of either of those programs that is bootable from a USB drive, or find an external CDROM Drive to boot to the program. Then you will need a IDE & Sata to USB adapter. They are not expensive, you can get them online, or at Frys Electronics, Micro Center, or other electronics stores like those. Then plug the old hard drive in to the adapter and by usb into your netbook. Then turn it on and boot to the program. Tell it to clone the hard drive. Make sure you choose your old hard drive as the source hard drive and the new one as the destination so you do not accidentally wipe your data. If the clone works, you will be back up and running when it finishes. If not, you will need to get a repair disk and repair it. Normally, those computers come built with a recovery partition, press F9 when booting to get to it. But you will only be able to wipe your hard drive or do a system restore. Since your hard drive is failing, you need to copy the data to a new one. Just running a system recovery will not fix the problem because the hard drive is failing. Let me know if you need any more help. Thanks for using Fixya!

Hi, My Gateway NV53A will not bootup. It keeps saying please insert your boot disc. Problem is that it never came with one. Can anyone help?

It sounds like your system can't read the disk sector that contains your boot up software. You will need to get a system disk from somewhere to boot up. Your hard drive may need wiped and reformatted. Try calling your tech support to see what they offer. If the computer is new I would take it back.

Says network boot failure ;not reading my hard drive please help me someone thank you

Here the reason why youre getting the error message the system is not reading the operating system on the hard drive.Heres some thing that you can do.

Change your Computer's boot sequence in you Bios. Make sure that you select a device (Hard drive) that has boot files (or Operating System files) installed. If still cant boot you might need to reinstall a new operating system to your machine. Keep in mind that if you reformat the machine all the save files on the drive will be wiped out

My Acer Aspire 6920 gets the error message "A disk read error occurred Press ctrl+alt+del to restart" Can I do anything to solve this issue?

first thing to check is if you have a USB drive (or thumb drive) plugged in. This often creates an issue with booting. If you do not then unfortunately you have a hard drive issue that may be major, but may be minor. Your best bet is to find a local support person, if you send it back to the manufacturer they may just wipe it and reload. This issue may be physical or created by a virus. Hope things work out
