Question about Jaton 3DForce B-16 (16 MB) Graphic Card

1 Answer

Need the driver for a 3DForce B-16 and also install.

I am building a computer form parts and the last part I needed was a video
card, which I now have. A friend gave me a 3DForce B-16 card with no CD or manual. I plan on loading XP home on a new hard drive.

How can I do this, is there some way to see the video during the XP install
and then download the right driver to get full use of the card after I have an O/S to work with or what.

Unsure of what to do or to expect, would appreciate an help or advice.
Thanks; Kevin.

Hello, Your on-board vga is still active and by default your computer will use this for displaying graphics. You will need to disable it to use your new card or change priority so that it searches for an external display first. To do this restart your computer, go into the bios and turn it off or change priority. Refer to your computer manual for the proper location of this setting.
Please bear in mind that some systems do not give you the option of disabling your on-board vga. I believe this is to allow you to still use your computer should the external vga fail.

Hope this helps, thanks for using FixYa

I think you are using the minimal Microsoft video drivers for your video card. Install true ATI/AMD video drivers for that card and you should get a world of better video out of that card. Go to; http://ati.amd.com to get the latest drivers.

How do I replace the video card on my emachine T6528

To replace the video card:

  1. Make sure everything is unplugged and computer is on a table. (Static is a bad thing)
  2. Remove the left side panel (should be 3 screws on the back)
  3. Panel usually slides back then pops off.
  4. Video card should be about halfway down.
  5. With the computer on it's side, remove the screw holding the old video card in.
  6. Pull the old card out. (might be a tab at the base of card)
  7. Put new card in. (Careful not to push too hard)
  8. Make sure all screws are put back in there proper place.
  9. Reconnect all cables. (Power cable should be last)
  10. Boot up the computer and install the drivers for the new card.
Now where's my $150???? LOL Kind of ridiculous what they charge for simple tasks. I'm not sure, but I think this voids the warranty on emachines?

Per-pixel rendering

the message is clear, the problem is clear, the solution is:
- upgrade your videocard to one that does support per pixel rendering,
- simply not to use that option,
- try to find another piece of software that has the same functionality but doesnot require per pixel rendering,
- get in touch again with the card manufacturer and see if per pixel rendering is indeed not available,
- if possible, buy another graphics card that has the option and put them in SLI (if supported) which will improve your graphics for other software as well.
