The two different wires you have are: yellow and red wire set are regular RCA's, and the other set sounds like component wire set. I myself would use the component wire set. let me know if that works for you.

How do I hook up this flat screen tv to my dvd

TV,s and DVD,s usually provide wiring diagrams to connect them together. Basically the "output" Connections of the DVD will go to the same "Input" connections on the TV. Most are colour coded. Red to red, blue to blue, yellow to yellow. These connections are usually marked Sound Left, Sound right, and video. If the DVD and the TV both have separate sound and video connections, or an "s" video output / input , use those as you will get a better picture and sound. For the standard RCA plug connections all you will need is the standard 3 colour lead to connect them. If you have the fancy S Video connections , you will need the special cable for this. Any good TV sales or electronic sales shop will have them.

Dvd, sound, no picture

If your DVD is external, I'd check TVs input settings: if your DVD on "progressive scan" mode, it delivers video signal via "component" connections: green, blue, red plus 2 separate red/white for the sound. If you trying to use 3 wires: yellow, red, white( composite), good chance, that the only sound is delivered. Try to switch DVD off 'progressive", if you only have 3 wires. It will deliver "picture". Or, verso-visa: using "component", 5 wires, but DVD set off "progressive scan". I've seen that confusion many times! Unless you have 'built in" DVD player. no matter what, it's must be broken! Use external DVD player, instead! $30 and trip to the store, will solve your problem. Don't want to fix TV, if everything else is alright. Myself, I never liked those "combo" units. You got stuck with mediocre TV and lousy DVD player. Better: separate them!
Good luck,
Alex.

the philips DVD player output gives three wire RED,WHITE,YELLOW accrording to them connect the red & white wire to the TV's red&white wires which is responsible for audio output from the dvd player,
then connect the yellow wire to the yellow inlet of the TV, which is either on the front pannel or back side of the television which is provides the video signal from the DVD.

Dynex dx-32l151a11 the picture is black and white with the dvd player

With a Black and White picture it sounds like you're trying to connect the DVD Player's "Composite" connection to the TV's Component Connection.

Composite is a 3 wire system with Yellow for the video, and red and white for the audio. On your TV this connection is located on the side.

Component is a 5 wire system, with Blue, Green & Red for Video, and Red and White for audio. On your TV this connection type is located on the rear panel.

Check to make sure you are hooking the DVD player & the TV to the same input types.

How do I hook up a DVD player to a proscan 32 inch flat screen tv?

Hello,

to connect your TV to your DVD, you will be needing a RCA wire (Yellow, white and Red wire). The yellow stands for video (visual/display), while the read and white stands for audio (sound).

Look at the back of your DVD, look out for Video Out, connect the yellow wire there. Also look out for Audio Out L & R, connect the white and red wire there.

Then turn the back of your TV, you will find Video, and Audio IN, Connect the other part of the wires from the DVD to the DVD, that is, Video for video and audio for audio.

Once you have connected the wires, turn on your TV, and your DVD player, press source on your TV remote to AV, and you will see your DVD displaying on your TV.

That's to hook up your DVD to your TV. Follow instructions carefully and you won't have any problem.

Good luck.

Hooking up a dvd

You want to hook up the cables to any of the VGA input sets. Red= right audio channel, White= left audio channel, Yellow= Video. Don't plug them into the sets that have Red, , Green, and blue inputs. Just the set with red, white and yellow. Now you won't get HD from this since it's not bluray or HD-DVD. Just be sure you select the corresponding input on the TV when you want to use the DVD player. For example, select input 1 from the on screen display if that's the one you plugged it into.
