You log into your netgear and under firewall you add the port exception to the list.

If you need additional help tell me the model of your netgear router.

What do you wan to connect?

This is a router so it should have internet connectivity and is wireless so you should be able to connect it using wireless.

If you want wired connection you can use any cat5 cable.

Just having the wireless router without connecting it to cable modem or DSL modem will not allow you to get onto the Internet. The wireless card in your computer/laptop will allow you to get onto the Internet at a free public WiFi hot spot location such as McDonalds, Star Bucks, at the airport.
Also the wireless card in your computer/laptop may allow you to connect into an unsecured wireless router from your neighbors, if their wireless router is within range of your computer/laptop but without their permission to use their Internet, it is considered stealing from your neighbor. They have a set download limit from their Internet Service Provider and by you connecting to their ISP you may cause them to exceed their download limit and they would be charged additional costs for every Mega byte over their limit.

I currently have an AT&T Fast Access DSL modem/router and want to add a netgear wireless N router to boost the range. What's the easiest way to do this?

The best possible configuration will be to configure the netgear router as an access point.

Laptop drops signal but other doesnt

This issue generally occurs due to the outdated Wireless Driver.

Check for the Updated Wireless Driver for your Computer (in which signal is dropping) and install in the Computer to resolve the issue.

If the Updated Wireless Driver is not available then un-install the Wireless Driver and install it again to resolve the issue.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Port Forwarding

To Enable Port Forwarding for MR314 or RP114 1. Type the router's address in an Internet browser's address bar. (By default the router's address is 192.168.0.1). 2. Enter the router's username and password. 3. Click Advanced > Ports on the left menu bar. 4. Enter the first port number in an unused Start Port box. 5. If only one port number is to be forwarded, enter the same number in End Port. To specify a range of ports, enter the last port to be forwarded in the End Port box. 6. Enter the IP address of your local server in the Server IP Address box. 7. Click Apply.
