Welcome to vista!!
first see if the maker of the camera has a vista driver for it.
if not,no problem.
buy a vista compatible "card reader"for the cameras memory stick(it's very cheap$$)
youl like it better than using the camera cord!!

Is Solution Disk Ver.31.1 or 29.0 the correct one for Canon's A95 camera? I'm using Vista on my computer.

Skip the software and drivers and use a card reader/writer. Not expensive, and no drivers needed for most newer operating systems of all kinds including Linux.

Your camera is an older one, and may not have drivers anyway for the new Windows.

Driver for Pretec DC-300 Digital Camera for Windows Vista

Try this:

Uninstall the driver (if installed). Next, put in the driver CD and browse to the setup.exe file. Right click and select properties. In the box that opens, select compatibilty tab and select the box next to "runthis program in compatibilty mode for" and select XP SP2. and install the program

Should that not work, uninstall and retry the above process, but select Windows 98 or 2000 this time..Hopefully that will work.

If it still does not work, then unfortunately, you will either have to downgrade to XP (I believe the driver works for XP) or buy a new camera altogether..

I can't seem to download my pictures now that I have up-graded to a new computer. It has Vista Windows operating system. Thanks.

If your camera is not relatively new, and you're running Vista, that's your problem. Many camera vendors did not update needed drivers to work with Vista, particularly for older cameras. It was just not cost effective. Unfortunately, this can't be corrected.

But there exists a good, if not better alternative way to download your photos with Vista. Please see this blog article, as it describes the use of an inexpensive card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue.

Hello! i own a canon s410 powershot, the camera got broken,i was given a canon a530 powershot and i want to use the software that came with s410,is that possible?my next question is about the the windows...

No, it's not likely to be compatible. The problem is that Canon did not update the drivers for many of its older cameras under the Vista operating system. So you're likely to run into problems downloading directly from the camera using the software. But there are other options, such as using an inxepensive card reader (can get them online for $2) to download your photos:

But back to your S410, what exactly is wrong with it? By chance if it's taking black, pink, or distorted pictures, please see this:

The drivers are located on the Canon website:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=11154

Use the drop down box labeled "Select OS" and select Windows Vista (x64).

I just purchased a Dell Studio Hybrid and tried to install my 6 year old Chameleon Mega driver. It tells me the software was found, however when I click on the Chameleon logo, a message "device not found"...

The software/drivers from the older Chameleon Mega camera is most likely having a compatibility issue with the newer operating system and hardware of your DELL computer.

With XP and especially Vista, whatever drivers and software are installed, it is very important that it is designed for these newer operating systems and computers.

You should contact the tech support for your Chameleon Mega camera to see if it is still supported for upgraded software and drivers. Something that is six years old is considered ancient when it comes to electronics and computers.

Can't install software for D53 on my new Vista PC

If it is older software, it is probably not made to run on Vista Operating Systems. I would check the market for something Vista compatible. Samsung might even have updated software on their website for purchase. But you might want to do some bargain hunting around the net first.
Or you could always just connect the camera to the computer and copy the pictures into the "My pictures" folder on your computer. And with Vista's "Windows Image Viewer" (or something of that nature) you can do basic things to the photos, like adjust brightness, contrast, or saturation. You could also crop the photos, and more. The Vista provided image viewer is probably equal to what you could do to photos in the software.

Computer dows not recognise Camera

Most likely it is a driver problem. There is a lot of problems between vista and older cameras. Unfortunately that is up to either Microsoft (there is a new Service Pack coming out, that might take care of a lot of things) or Canon to fix the camera.
Check Canon's website and see if there is a download or firmware upgrade.
