Go here... select the model etc and the network driver should be one of the drivers available... download it and install and that should fix it up.

Check Device Manager in Safe Mode. Look for hidden devices under view and delete all DVD's. Windows should auto install after reboot. Run thorough virus scan and rec-connect drive if still does not function.

The devices that have a yellow ? against indicated that device drivers was not installed.

You can download any/all the Windows XP device drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from their download page.
Make sure you enter the model of your laptop so you can get the correct drivers.

No wifi after re-load of xp system software

Did you reinstall the drivers for the device? Check the Device Manager for your system and see if Windows sees the wireless device. If you have a red X, the device is disabled; if you have either an unknown device or the wireless device with a yellow dot with a black exclamation point, then either the driver is not installed, or the driver is improperly installed.

I reinstalled Windows XP on my laptop and don't know what etherne

You should first check device manager for any issues with Network drivers.

Start--> Run --> devmgmt.msc

This command will launch "Device manager" window.

If you see a Yellow exclamation mark in device manager for NIC, follow the following steps to identify the card that is installed on your computer.

  1. Open Device Manager (Right-click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager)
  2. The hardware whose drivers are missing will appear as Unknown device, so it’s easier to locate the device.
  3. Right click on the unknown device and click on Properties.
  4. Under the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id from the drop down box.
  5. You should see a code similar to this
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DC&SUBSYS_30868086&REV_01\4&1E46F438&0&40F0
  6. The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID. In this example:
    Vendor ID = 8086
    Device ID = 27DC
  7. Once you have obtained both the IDs, proceed to www.pcidatabase.com . There you can either search for the vendor from the vendor ID or directly get information about the device along with the vendor name by searching with the device ID.
After you find out the information about the device and the manufacturer of the device, you can visit the manufacturer’s website and download the corresponding device drivers.

Available networks not recognized...

Sounds like your Drivers may not be installed for your Wireless Network Adaptor especially if you had to re-install your computer due to a virus. To check this Right click on My Computer, click on properties, and then the hardware tab, click on device manager, and see if there are any devices listed that have a Red X or a yellow ! mark on them, if so write them down, and then proceed to the toshiba website to download any needed drivers and reboot and try again.

Website url for your wireless driver can be accessed below:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=321479&rpn=PS241U&modelFilter=2415-S205&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663&selModel=321479%7CPS241U

Page 3 carries the "Toshiba Wireless LAN Driver for Windows XP (v1.12.110; 05-16-2002; 501K)" driver - I suggest you download all the drivers you can identify are not installed in the Device Manager.

CF-73 Wireless Problem

You may need to install the driver for your wireless adapter manually. Go to Device Manager > Look for "Other Devices". Under "Other Devices" look for an item that could be your wireless adapter (trial and error method) , right click it and select update driver. Your wireless adapter can sometimes be "Network Controller" under Other Devices. If your first item under "Other Devices" does not recognize the driver that you supplied, proceed with the next item. Make sure you have the correct driver.

Good luck and have a nice day!
