I have a 2008 kawaski KFX 450r. Been having issues with it starting. I will ride the bike a 2 o 3 days, then it wont start. Thinking it may be the stator? Battery has been tested, and is good. Battery is always kept on a trickle charger when bike is stored for long periods of time. The starter makes a loud grinding sound as well. Also thinking it could be the starter. Before I spend hundreds on parts, is there any advice?

I had the same problem. The compression release fell out of the exhaust cam! Its part of the cam. I replased the exhaust cam and it starts easily now. Don't forget to use a magnet to find the piece that fell off. If thats not it you siezed your motor.

My yamaha wont turn on i tryed moving the gear that the starter turns and one way it moves nice and clean and the other way locks and wont move what could it be

When it "locks", that's just compression - it's normal. If you turn it so it "locks" and wait a while, you'll be able to turn it a little more before it "locks" again - that's compression leakage, again normal. If you put it into gear and rock the machine back & forth, you'll be able to see the ring gear turning, too. Normal.

So... let's back up. When this all started happening, did the starter just crank the engine slowly? DId it crank quickly but the engine didn't fire? The battery may be dead or near-dead now, in which case you'll need to charge it or jump-start it. Regardless of how it acted, there's a lot of stuff to check before we can know for sure why it wasn't starting. First... check to be sure it has plenty of good new gasoline in it.

94 eagle summit started to randomly die for no reason. Then it won't start rite back up rite away. I got a turn up oil change air filter changer full tank of gas belts changed. I drove after then again...

Take the battery out and have it charged. Have a shop test the battery to make sure it is ok. If it died and the battery was dead check the charging system when you get it started again. With a volt meter test across the battery with the engine running. You should have 14.2-14.5v. This indicates the system is charging. If it is in the 12-13v range it is not charging and may need an alternator.

2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R will not turn over

Hi, Phatsmurf56 before testing any electrical component in the Starting Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Engine Run Switch is "FAULTY" or corroded.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
5. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
6. FOB battery low or dead.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Faulty starter button.
9. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
10. Security alarm needs a reset.
11. Starter relay, solenoid, starter motor or circuit wiring faulty.
12. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
13. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
14. Faulty ignition relay.
15. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
16. Check for engine trouble codes.
