There are many settings 1.distance (This is the distance between you and the speakers) if your sitting say 6 ft away then you set it to 6 and so on (all front speakers should be lined up the same distance from you) The rear speakers are set up the same way (distance from where you are sitting) then 2. small and large (always pick large for best sounf)3.Tone (this is more a matter of choice) play around a bit with it! the sub should be at least one foot from the wall for best sound! I keep my center chanek a little lower then the other channels for best sound !

I have a audisonicHt-902 home theater but can only get front speakers working not the surround sound

Check the audio settings, most stereos have o remade settings like cinema, gaming, rock, etc. These settings are pre made eq settings and will optimize your system for a particular type of audio. Play with those settings until you get all of the speakers working to your desired performance levels. I had the same issue with my pioneer 7.1 system.

Head unit connect

You will only be able to use this EQ on the front or the rear speakers. You will have to get another EQ if you think you need one. Usually, the front speakers of a car's audio system are the smallest and the rears are larger. You really do not want an EQ on the subs. If it was mine, I would hook the EQ between the head unit and the rear speakers. If you feel this does not sound right, you may need, but I doubt it very much, to get another EQ for the front speakers. Good Luck

All the hight frequencies have disappeared. Everything sounds muffled. I've checked the EQ settings and the treble is all the way up. Any Ideas? A factory Reset of some sort?

It sounds to me as though your speakers are at fault, like the tweeters (and midranges in a three-way system) are no longer working. Have you tried another set of speakers to see if the sound is normal that way? There may be fuses or resettable protectors on the crossover networks in the speaker cabinets that have opened because of high volume levels or if the amplifier was driven into clipping by the program material. Or the speakers themselves or other parts on the crossovers may have been damaged. Check the speakers first, then look at the receiver if the trouble continues. If the unit has an electronic EQ with presets or pushbutton level settings, the processing IC may have gone bad.

When we are trying to get a reasonable level of sound for vocals before it gets loud enough to be able to hear clearly with the band playing it starts to clip at the speakers now we are only using this set...

Proper level setting of the mixer is important. HOWEVER if the clipping is occuring at the speakers the only possible problem MIGHT be that you have a supersonic feedback that is saturating the speakers above your hearing range, Be sure you don't boost the highs too much with the EQ as this can cause the feedback that you can't hear. Also make sure that you power the speakers from the SAME receptacle as the mixer, even if it means running an extension cord to bring power to the mixer. This is to avoid a low frequency hum and common mode distortion/damage. A low frequency hum could cause the clipping.
It would be a good idea to get a sound meter to check the sound level. You should be able to reach 85 Db from this system without clipping. If you need more than that, you MAY need more speakers if the band instruments are too loud. Also if the band has amps that get into the vocal microphones that adds to the clipping level... make sure the mics don't "hear" the band instruments. Make sure your speakers are toward the audience from the mics to avoid the supersonic feedback problem. If the vocalists can't hear themselves with that configuration you need to set up seperate stage monitors.

There are some pretty good videos on YouTube about proper mixer level setup.

Lg lht854....wont play sound out of rear and center speakers

Try setting it first on surround mode because it is normal for the rear speakers not to come on when it is the surround mode is off. For the center speakers make sure it is hooked up properly. Follow the instruction if you have one. Lastly I never heard of center speakers have two speakers in it but if it does and you only have one set of wire to it then one of the speakers is no good.

Set your equalizer to you a V shape or U shape pattern, bass effect can only attain by adding a powered subwoofer, (amplifier and subwoofer). subwoofer without an amplifier doesn't sound good, your system doesn't have enough power to drive your subwoofer.

How should I place the tie mic

Typically you want to wear the mic 6 to 8 inches below your chin clipped to the lapel area. It seems in this case it has more to do with EQ and speaker placement. If you can stand behind the speakers while using the mic. The sound bouncing back and forth between the mic and the speaker is what causes feedback. Also try setting the mic channels EQ with the following settings.
Turn Lows down to about 7 to 9 O'clock
Play with Mids to match actual source, but never boost above 12 O'clock
Keep highs around 10 O'clock (boosting highs increses chances of feedback.) If to muddy sounding keep highs aroun 12 but not over.
Good Luck

I am looking to upgrade my receiver to an audio video receiver that will hook up to a blue ray via HDMI. I want to use my 901's forthe front speakers. Can you recommend a mid priced (<$600) AVR that...

Good day,

Congrats on your new AV receiver. I own an awesome Yamaha mid-priced AV surround sound system with HDMI, BR disc player, and all that stuff. However, I'm old school and use my 901 Series Vs with a Yamaha RX-797 'two-channel' receiver. To get to the point, I have some bad news. Mid-priced (mp) AVRs, or any AVR for that matter, will not work with 901s because the active equalizer (EQ) requires either a 'tape monitor loop' or 'pre-out / main-in' connection to work properly. You've probably been told the 'why they won't work' by now and it is very true--I know from experience. Most of today's AVRs do not include a 'tape monitor loop' or 'pre-out/main-in connection for the EQ connection, thus, killing all hopes of using 901s. I truly love my 901 Series Vs (since 1985 and still kicking) and love true 'stereo' for playing my music. Again, 901s are useless with today's AVR equipment (as I know it). Just don't let your 901s collect dust--they are truly marvels!! Go with a set of good 'standard' speakers for the AVR system and buy yourself a decent stereo receiver or amp for the 901s--that's how I do it!! I've tried Onkyo, Rotel, Sansui, Poineer amps / receivers--all of them. I can tell you this--for the common, working man/woman, nothing, I mean nothing available can match-up with Bose 901s like a Yamaha RX-797 (200W)--not to mention the sound quality-wow!!! And this unit is very reasonably priced for such awesome performance and high quality build. Just know that all is not lost. You can still use your 901s--I cna't listen to music without mine.

EQ settings

This setting is a blast,I adapted it from the 10 band "perfect" itunes eq setting. don' t be shy , give it a try...
80hz = (2) or 7
220hz = (0) or 5
470hz = (-1) or 4
1khz = -(-2) or 3
2.2khz= (0) or 5
4.7khz =(2) or 7
12khz= (4) or 9

I have this on my LG tv, however if you need more oomph! to it, simply stick to the same pattern between the two sets above and move each slider up accordingly.
