Flexible copper water heater with washer leaks at cold inlet .

The pipe has a washer and I didnot use pipe dope or tape should I ? How tight does this need to be?

You say "pipe dope not needed", yet it leaks. I just replaced my water heater and have the exact same issue. I've tried snug to very tight, tried thread tape, was going to try pipe dope next and I see it's not needed here. So if it leaks, does the flex pipe & fitting need to be replaced?

Pipe dope not needed tighten snug then one quarter turn is recommended by most mfg
