Hi,
I know what is problem with DSC-N2
Lens is not being initialized and causing error so system control generate power on-off display.

New lens assembly is probably proper solution because repair of this lens is really tough job for tech person.

You can order lens aseembly with following part number ...

YOu'll need to pull the lens out, use a small flat head screwdriver or paperclip. If you cant remove it like that simply open it up and push the lens out.. Common problem usually cause by dust sticking the lens or if someone pushed it it.

Try slapping gently the back of the camera with the palm of your hand while you turn the camera on.

Try also helping the lens out with your fingernail (gently), while you turn on the camera.

Try spraying canned air on the lens.

If all that does not work, the lens must be taken apart, in this case ask a quote to a repair shop, unless you want to turn the camera into a bunch of tiny bits and screws.

Thanks.

It might be battery problem. Try to remove the battery, plug the camera to power outlet.
Try to restart it several times.
Do you have any messages on it:E:61 error "Access" and then "Turn camera off and then on again".
If yes you have jammed lens. You need to bring it for repair, it will be around $65+
Good Luck

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Unfortunately, the correct procedure would be to seek the services oa an authorized service center as this involves opening the lens mechanism.

A non-technical, temporary workaround is to jar the camera back into action. This could be accomplished by thumping the bottom of the camera against one's palm or an open book. Of course this procedure is not recommended as it either clears the jam or reinforces it.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Zoom lense 'Slanted'

The parts (gears) are manufactured in plastics so once damaged it is very difficult to rebuild. Sony does not sell gears but complete lens assy. so best way is to find out what Sony charges for the repair. At www.camerarepairjapan.com the rebuilt of zoom repair was around $120 with 3 months warranty. Good luck. James
