Battery escape in a Blackberry 7290

What I have to do if my Blackberry 7290 says "battery escape- closing the device" and shuts down, it does not charge, I put another new batter to see if the problem was the battery, but anything function. Can you help me with that? What is happening with the phone?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand a known issue to this model. Some tricks/workaround done are:

  • inserting a thin foam to ensure that the battery makes forced contact with the battery terminals;
  • slightly bending the contacts outwards to give more pressure to the battery;
  • covering one side of the battery with a piece of tape to increase width slightly;
  • of course the correct procedure would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

It means that your battery is not seated properly, I just searched the blackberry forums, and it seems to be common when removing the battery, unless seated properly it will deplete the charge faster than normal, I hope this helps you, thanks for using FixYa, peace Gym

Blackberry 7290 battery icon with line hrough battery

This can indicate that the battery can no longer hold a sufficient charge for the device and may need to be replaced. To be sure, you can download and install the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager software from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=DA5FB46338C8C0DCB1039F7898184FC5

Once installed, connect your BlackBerry to your computer via the USB sync cable. Open Desktop Manager, and click the Application Loader. On the right, you will see Update your device software. Click the Start Button, and if your BlackBerry is not on the latest Handheld Software, an update will appear. Select the update, and run the install. Be sure to select the option that backs up and restores your data. Once started, do not shut down your computer, or disconnect the USB sync cable as this could damage the device.

Once completed, your BlackBerry will restart and you will have the latest version available. This version has been known to correct various issues.

My RIM Blackberry 7290 comes up with "Device Error: 365 Reset". Whatever key I push, it still comes up with the same message.This problem started after taking the battery out to insert a sim card. Tks

you probably either messed up your battery, scratched your sim card, or got something wet. i would ask a phone technician cause you might need some help.
