1998 Sears 626.5538 Television color issues???

I have a 8/98 Sears Model # 626.54538, Chassis #PTV800-AHO1 good sound and picture works but colors are not exactly what they are supposed to be(ie...It is difficult to tell yellow and red apart). The television is better the darker the room is but it still isn't good. Gaming is next to impossible on anything where you have to see subtle color differences. Any suggestions would be awesome

Would you think the tubes would be more likely than the circuitry? I think i have found some for about $30 a piece. Would it be worth messing with? Also is this a plug and play DIY project? I work on cars not televisions but i imagine i can probably figure it out with a little push in the right direction.....thanks

also i found out through a little digging on sears website that it is actually a magnavox 62654538890 in disguise. anywhere you know of that might have a breakdown of the internals? Or should i just bust out the credit card

You either have one of two problems the first is bad picture tubes or circuitry to drive them, At this age it time to get a new TV; Both repairs are not cost effient.

Another posibility occured to me, possiply Coolant in the picture tubes. they need to be removed, the coolant replaced and alignments completed. Can be done on site. expect $3-400.

The tubes themselves are not the problem it is the coolant that the picture travels through. The Red and Green tubes must be removed from the TV, dismantled, cleaned, reassembled and new coolant added. When reinstalled the Convergence must be realigned and will need a Technician to get into the Convergence Service menu to complete this alignment. I would not recommend trying it yourself.

This could also be part of your lack of color, otherwise may also need MAIN or VIDEO PCB

I have a Slim-View LXI TV Model # PTV 515 AHO1 Has no Picture

while i dont have a true answer, I can tell you its a magnavox tv sold by sears produced back in 93. Ours just started doing this last week. I couldnt find any help online so we replaced it with a new led flat panel. WOW what a difference, the LXI was great for the past 17 years but the new tvs are better. We put the LXI in the garage because we couldnt throw it away. That tv was like a family member, if i figure out how to fix it i will post the how to.

Hitachi 50 Rear Projection color TV

the easiest way is to turn the color all the way down to zero. Then notice the overall color of the screen, if it doesnt appear as a good black and white picture you will have to adjust the screens. To do that you have to remove the speaker grill cover and the small access panel, then depending on the chassis you will see a small square with 6 dials on it 3 on top and 3 on the bottom it will have screen stamped on it. adjust those 3 untill your screen appears the best black and white picture as possible. Now if your chassis only has 3 dials on the sgaure control box those are focusdont adjust them. . then the 3 CRT boards will have the dials you need adjust those for the best black and white picture. when your satisfied that you have a good black and white picture. then turn your color back up and adjust the tint.Let me know if you need more assistance.

Toshiba Model # 42H81 Picture Problem

Can you describe the issue a little more? It may be a convergence issue which is quite common on big screens. But there are quite a few issues that can cause a bad picture.

If it's convergence, you'll be able to tell by going to a news channel and looking at the text. If the convergence is bad you'll see a ghosting like image of 2 or 3 letters for each one that should be there.
