Onkyo TX-DS575X Doesn't work in Dolby Pro Logic Mode

I purchased a used Onkyo TX-DS575X AV Receiver. I plugged in all my speakers. It works fine in stereo mode, but the surround sound listening modes are not working. There is sound, but each channel is not getting separate output for true surround sound.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR500 Dolby Digital problem

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. Sure. You need an adapter cable that will plug into the headphone socket on one end, and on the other end, plug into your Onkyo's "line input", like this one:

Called Onkyo and here is the solution they gave me.

1. Turn on unit.

2. Press and hold VIDEO 1 button.

3. While pressing VIDEO 1 button, press Speaker A.

4. You should see "CLEAR" on the display for a second and the unit will go on stand-by mode.

5. Turn on the unit again and check if sound is back.

Hope this helps.

Dolby surround output

Make sure that you use digital inputs between source and your receiver and the input is seen as digital in selector. If you use analog connection, no DD signal could be transmitted.

Dolby DIgital 5.1 doesn't work with DVD', only DTS works.

Have you changed your DVD player or it's settings? If the Dolby Digital light comes on then your receiver is working as it is detecting the signal format. I suggest that you check the set up of the DVD player and make sure that it is set for bitstream and not pcm.
