Onkyo TX-DS575X Doesn't work in Dolby Pro Logic Mode

I purchased a used Onkyo TX-DS575X AV Receiver. I plugged in all my speakers. It works fine in stereo mode, but the surround sound listening modes are not working. There is sound, but each channel is not getting separate output for true surround sound.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR500 Dolby Digital problem

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. Some info from the manual:
The Dolby Digital and DTS listening modes can only be selected if your Blu-ray Disc/DVD player is connected to
the AV receiver with a digital audio connection (coaxial,
optical, or HDMI).
• The listening modes you can select depends on the format of the input signal. To check the format, see "Displaying Source Information"
• While a pair of headphones is connected, you can select the following listening modes: Mono, Direct, and Stereo.
• While Speakers A and B are on, you can select only the
Direct, Stereo, Mono, or T-D (Theater-Dimensional) listening mode.

Plus this Bit of info on the speakers A and B buttons.
While Speakers B is on, channels are reduced to 2.1 in the
main room.

If you can access the speaker configuration it should provide test tones to each speaker. If you can't the speaker A and B are not set right.
If you have pressed the stereo or mono button no sound will be heard except from the front two or the sub.

I have a Onyko TX-SR303 5.1 Receiver and sound is only coming out of left front speaker.

Could be the IC that controls the various sound/surround channel modes. Had that happen on my Pioneer receiver.
Charged me close to 200 bucks to fix!

Garbled / feedback sounds from powered subwoofer

The surround processing portion of the unit has a problem. In either stereo or direct mode, the digital procesing is bypassed. This could be just the surround processing IC, but that IC may not be available as a separate part. I would suggest that you bring this unit to an authorized Onkyo service center for an estimate.

switch the HDMI cables around to make sure its not one of them, if the problem is one of them it will move with the cable,if no change i would suspect the coaxial cable next.
