Do not type the IP address and subnet mask, just click on obtaib the IP address automatically and obtain the DNS automatically. Because if you encode the IP and subnet mask, there would be conflict and let the internet explorer configure it automatically.

To configure the D-Link router, you will next need to open a web browser and type http://www.
You should see the administration screen of the D-link router. type in admin and leave the password filed blank.
A setup wizard should appear, prompting you to first change the router’s password. Pick something you can remember.
You will next have to setup a time zone, you will then be given option as to how the router will handle IP address on the network. Most users will opt for the Dynamic option, which means the router will act as a DHCP server and supply all computers on the network with an IP address. If you select DHCP, you will need to Clone the IP address of the machine your ISP has already had contact with. For instance, if your ISP has been giving IP address to a certain computer before you put the router between them, you will need to clone the MAC address of that machine.

If she has a Linksys router, you may need to change the operating "MODE" on it.  A lot of Linksys routers have 2 modes of operation---Router mode and Gateway mode.  For her configuration, make sure the Linksys is in Gateway mode.  This will fix the NAT problem.

Follow instruction and let me know if you need a copy of user manual.

TP-LINK TL-WR340G, No internet connection

Look for the MAC address clone feature on the router. If the router does not ahve the auto clone MAC feature, you'll need to manually input the MAC address of your computer.

To get the MAC address or Physical address of the computer do this
Click start>run>type in "cmd" and press okay (without the " ").
On the Command prompt type in ipconfig/all and then press enter, look for physical address.
Then input that on the MAC clone feature of the computer to your router and then power cycle everything (turn everything off and then turn on modem first-then router-then computer).

Cant connect to any internet page through linksys etherfast cable/dsl router

Check your windows network configuration. You may have to go through the wireless setup wizard by adding a connection. At least you know they recognize each other. There also may be a security code that is needed in the network setup in windows. right click on the network connection and look at properties. only change one thing at a time and document what changes you make.

Try typing into your browser. That is usually the default address used by most routers and such. If that does not work then find an open source network scanner like Nmap and run it to determine the IP and then type it into your web browser. Word of caution these tools are for experts.
