Many programs have a speciality, they perform some functions better than others. We try to list the best programs at the top of the pages in each section. Our opinion is the best all around program is Virtuosa Gold.

Even thought I hate Apple, I find iTunes has a great mp3 converter. It will even convert Midi to mp3. It is sort of buried feature so you may need to look for an online guide to figure out how to use it, but it produces better mp3s that any other program I have tried and its free.

Best Mp3 converter I have found is CDex. Its completely free, can change most files to mp3 format, even the same bitrate and batches for multiple files.

ImToo 3GP Converter works great for me. Its free and can convert several files formats to whatever you format you need.

iTunes can also convert AAC and WMA files etc... into MP3.

I know some people will disagree with this but I believe that a free program called audio grabber is the best for ripping/converting files to whatever you .wav to .mp3 and visa versa, or ever cd to og vorbis if you have the codec installed on your system. Make sure that you download the lame codec aswell their are instuctions on their website on where to find them and install them so they work with the encoder/decoder. Just additional note here is the link for instuctions on how to install the lame codec for the audiograbber program. Please note while the program will be functional the lame codec is what makes the program really shine so its worth taking the extra 5mins or less and getting them both. http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/links... use the instructions for LAME MP3 DLL try the main download link if that doesn't work is slow try the mirror site.

I use a free program called Mediamonkey. Not only does it convert to mp3 and other formats, but it can level the volume and change the bit rate quality of the mp3 as well. Great program in my humble opinion!

I like CDEX. It used to be free when i got it, and its really simple and nice, takes care of the ripping too.

If its no longer available for download you can try emule or one of those file sharing progs.

There used to be Blade enc once too, really cute and simple, does only the encoding part though(wav>mp3).
