HP Pavilion dv9500t Vertical Line Issue

Hi,
I have just experienced the exact same problem that you have posted. I have a HP Pavilion dv9500 and it just crapped out. Now only displays vertical lines and has the blue lights on but then displays sorta a dark screen with a few lighters spots on it. What did you find out from HP, was it your motherboard fried? I tried calling them and they would not help me over the phone without me paying them $50 but said online help was free. I went online and they told me to try to start it after trying to purge the static out and nothing happened when I booted it back up. They said I would have to send my laptop in and it would cost about $400 to repair. I dont understand why it would die, I only owned it for a year and four months.

Try connecting an external monitor to the unit. if you get the same or similar issues on the external monitor then you have a GPU issue on the motherboard. It will need to be REFLOWED or replaced. If you do not get the same issue on your external monitor, then you need to replace your LCD. Our shop replaces these LCDs for 140-180 so i imagine you should be able to find something similar in your area!

Good Luck!

Dv9500 cd drive missing

Open Windows Device Manager and see if your CD drive is operational (if not you'll see an "exclamation" symbol next to the device having trouble). Next - go to HP's support website for the latest drivers; install and see if that does the trick.

My HP pavilion dv9500 has failed with a mother board failure. Before I take action I would like to know whether the hp pavilion dv9500 has a history of motherboard faults; if so is there a good URL which...

The DV6000 and the DV9000 have a bad history of failure at the video card. Most of the failures are caused by an overheating issue. The most recent BIOS updates being released by HP have resolved many problems by making the fan run faster and more efficiently to reduce heat. Also when you buy motherboards for these systems, retailers are including small copper plates to put between the heatsink and processor and video chip to help reduce the heat load. Check any forum that mentions the DV6000 and the DV9000 and you will nothing but complaints about the motherboard problems. Most of which were or are out of warranty and consumers told to pack sand by HP support.

PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable.

id open the hard drive bay and remove the drive and then reseat it and then try to reboot the unit. make sure the battery is out and the power unplugged when you take the drive out. if the system errors like that again its either the hard drive or the ide/sata on the mobo. after getting the system up you could use an external drive adapter to try and recover any data off that drive (really doubt itll work if drive is dead)
