if you are hooking up to a stereo reciever make sure the ohms & wattage are correct or it could cause problems if you are hooking up to a car head unit i dont advise it could damage both headunit and sub
Do yourself a favor do not get anything Pyramid they are cheap for a reason and you will not get good bass response from them even in a optimal enclosure. If you want nice bass for little money go with lanzaropti 1535D sub you can pick one up for around $265 and will blow away Pyramid any day.
i actually have 2 12" type s's and i did the same thing just wanted a cheap amp... i went on ebay and bought a pyramid 1600 super blue series amp..... its 1600 watts and ive also hooked it up to type r's and it POUNDS!!! ill copy and paste the website where i got mine from on ebay... if you tune it right it'll make it so you cant breathe inside your car......http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-1600-WATT-PYRAMID-PB559X-Car-Audio-Amp-Amplifier_W0QQitemZ350169009069QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Amplifiers?hash=item5187b30bad
Did you have it hooked up by a professional or did you (or someone you know) do it. If a shop/pro didnt do it make 100% sure everything is hooked up right. Increase the size of your power wire from your battery to the amp. Check your gain settings on the amp. If the vehicle you have this in has a trunk (not a hatch back), position your speakers against the back seat facing you as your putting them in the trunk. If none of this works, buy bigger speakers and more power!
My honest opinion is that MA Audio is not in the same category as the other subs you mentioned. I buy a lot of electronics on ebay to avoid the giant mark up from stores. I found some MA's and got them for $.01 because no one wants them. However - any sub can preform well if you put the in the right box. I am a technician, not a salesman so you just heard my opinion for an experience standpoint.
Well, If you're sure they're not blown, they're either bottoming out because you're overpowering them, or your box is not the best. I'd recommend putting them in a sealed box. even run some caulk inside where every peice of wood meets another, just to make sure it's sealed. If your box isn't sealed well at the edges, or your ports are too big, the speaker will have excessive excursion (in & out movement), causing bottoming out, and voice coil damage. Plus, I just like the nice tight bass from a sealed enclosure. Hope this helps.
its hard to tell whats wrong with so little info , but theres alot that you can check ,
Is your amp putting out the power ? If the amp is a Pro series 750x amp then check your amp inputs they might be too low hence low output. Otherwise i would like to know what size of enclosure you have these spekers on and how they are connected to the amp.
