A rather simple and effective solution which costs the price of a CD or nothing if you use a rewritable CD is to make an "Audio CD" of the files you want then use Windows Media player (or whatever) to "rip" them off as MP3 files. The action of making the CD "converts" the files to standard audio CD format so they can then be ripped as per normal as MP 3's.

My friend sent me a converter for my computer so i could convert songs for my web site but i dont know where he got it but your best bet is to google it and click around until you find a good one for your computer.
