Question about Kitchen Ranges
Top oven has a preset cooking mechanism. I can't get top oven to lite because I don't have the dials lined up properly. Center dial is a clock (not working) a setting for "hrs to cook" & "stop". There is also another knob to the left of the clock which reads (I think) S C O M (4 settings). I can get the oven to work by trial and error - not suitable for holiday cooking. Has anyone ever encountered this problem?

49er, if none of the igniter switches work you're on the right track. Follow those wires and you'll come to a "spark module". This will need to be replaced. Part number 74008821... lists at about $21.00. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

SOURCE: Oven will not lite
Older is BETTER !! Replace the igniter, even if it is glowing
REPLACE it !
note:there is a 2% chance the safety valve is the problem. And I'll bet you ,you are in the 98% side on this one.EVEN THOUGH YOU SEE IT GLOW -----IF ITS JUST GLOWING---------GLOWING--------GLOWING---------it's gone ! !

Simply set the Clock and Delay Start to the current time, then set the Stop Time ahead 3 hours. For example, if it is currently 8:00 then set the Stop Time to 11:00. The lights on the console will come on and the cleaning cycle will begin. At some point during the cycle when the oven gets hot enough, the lock mechanism is "fixed" and will not release until the cycle is complete.
