Previous employee left with all passwords, and cannot contact to recover them. Need to modify network (alter static IP address and subnet mask), but cannot see any way into that setting, other than (I assume) via the "administrator", for which we dont know password (tried 00000000, 12345678, etc, etc..). Is there a maintenance mode through which we can re-set the admin password (and I assume wipe out email address book).. but anyhting is better than nothing.
Steve GwynneThere is a simulation mode which will reset the admin password if this has been changed, Make sure you are on the copy screen and then select # * C + = hash star the RED C button and then Star. This must be done in a fluent motion and not hesitant finger movement. You should see a big list of simulation numbers. Plese dont mess with any of these if you dont know what you are doing. OK now type in number 24 then press the copy button (as to make a copy) then hit 31 this should say service password initialisation. click on execute and yes then press CA button. and it should either restart or go back to the copy screen. the password is reset !! enjoy.

Solution : Modify the Default Admin (Tools Mode) Password on the WorkCentre
NOTE:The Admin (Tools Mode) password allows access to configure network and machine settings on the printer.Xerox recommends only changing the default Admin (Tools Mode) password if absolutely necessary. If the password has been changed from the default password (1111) and has been forgotten, a service call is required to reset the password. To change the default Admin (Tools Mode) password:
Press the [Log In / Out] button on the Control Panel. The Log In window will be displayed. See theRelated Itemsbelow for additional information regarding logging into the WorkCentre.
Select [Security Settings] on the left side of the screen.
Select [Authentication] from theGroupscolumn and then select [User / Administrator Accounts] from theFeaturescolumn. The User Administrator screen will be displayed.
Select the [Account #] field, and then select account number 1 using the keypad on the Control Panel.
Select the [Configure Account] button. The Configure User Accounts screen will be displayed.
Press the [Clear C] button (several times, as required) on the Control Panel to clear the old password.
Enter the new password using the keypad on the Control Panel.
If necessary, place a check mark in the [System Administrator (Admin)] and [Account Administrator] check boxes, and then select [Save Account].
Press the [Log In / Out] button on the Control Panel.
Press the small round [Log In / Out] button located on the left side of the Control Panel. The System Administrator Login screen will be displayed.
Enter the System Administrator Login ID using the numeric keypad on the Control Panel, and then select the [Confirm] button on the Touch Screen. The System Administrator Menu screen will be displayed.
NOTE:The System Administrator Login ID and UserID is "11111" by default. If an error is made, press the [Clear (C)] button and re-enter the ID. To cancel the operation, select [Cancel]. If the administrator has a problem with changing or has forgotten the ID, a service call must be placed.
Select the [System Settings] button twice. The System Settings screen will be displayed.
Select the [Change System Admin Login ID] button.
Enter in the new password.
Select the [Save] button to save the setting.
Select the [Close] button several times, and then select the [Exit] button to exit.
There are workarounds and ways around the admin password and if you can get in and create another user profile with admin rights. You can google software to crack admin local Windows password to reveal it. There are also boot discs that can crack it instantly which actually deletes it and changes it something you want. The last resort is reinstalling the Windows OS.
First of all, the default password for Admin is '123456'. The network button is grayed out because network is initializing. Which means the network portion of you copier is trying to boot up. If it never finishes booting up, you will need an authrized technician to re-load system firmware on your machine.
Press machine log in button, enter 11111 confirm, this will take you to sys admin mode, from here you can navigate into sys settings to configure network, copy and fax defaults, and also auditron admin if this is the password mentioned, if the 11111 password has been changed hold the zero button for a few seconds then press start while still holding zero enter 6789 to get into diagnostics, and you can navigate through to the above settings caution be careful what you change in this mode.
