Co smell during oven use

I just purchased this oven recently and found a strong CO smell when i started the oven but within 5-10min the smell had reduced. What is an acceptable co reading when using the oven? Should it change from the start to the finish? Where could i get an service manual?

You are not smelling CO because CO has no odor. I assume you mean you are smelling natural gas? Sounds like the oven is slow to light. After it lights the smell should slowly dissipate to nothing.

What you are smelling is the protective grease against rust or corrosion that came originally with your oven. the odor is normal if you are just purchase the oven.

Strong gas odor only when oven is in operation?

If you're talking about the acrid smell immediately after starting the oven, that's aldehyde gas, a byproduct of cold gas combustion where the flame contacts the cold metal oven surfaces. That smell should disappear within the first minute or two, and it's entirely normal for a gas oven. If you're talking instead about the smell of fuel gas, then your burner may need to be adjusted; it may be running much too "rich".

Noxious oven smell

Your oven needs a good clean up and so it is important that a good cleaning agent is used. Also check if there is chance that insects or rats have been caught inside and so if the smell is from the outside you need to open the oven covers to clean and detoxify.

My frigidaire ES400 gas range is giving off a sooty smell and high levels of CO that fluctuate from 23ppm - 118ppm (FD CO METER). what is the possible cause and how can it be repaired?

Air intake needs adjustment. Remove bottom drawer, there is a gas valve and the burner attached to it. Loosen small screw on the burner and turn the air baffle to let more/less air in. If not sure what you're doing - call a repairman.
Also make sure not to cover any vents on the oven bottom with foil, as some usually do.
It also can be that the burner holes need cleaning
