How to adjust cb for linear amp installation

That is a broad question. It depend more on your choice of amp. Typical setup cobra 29 with 2 watt dead key or carrier into 150 watt amp. We must pay attention to the total swing a more powerfully radio could still hurt this size amp if the pep wattage was to hi no matter the dead key being low. The cobra is no threat to this size amp as long as dead key is reduced.

No sound or squelch

something wrong on your audio amplifier,if you don`t know how to trouble shoot it,let technicians do it for you, they know how to fix it.but if you are a technician/hobbiest,please make an audio test to it`s amplifier to distinguish if it hum or make a noise.also of course, can you check the presence of its supply if it has,if none so trail out the map of it`s circuit where it`s component doesn`t give off voltage.
i hope it will help you to your trouble shooting

How to match a antenna to a cobra 29 LTD Classic

You are actually tuning the antenna to the vehicle it is mounted on here are some very good resources.

Be aware that if your radio has been modified it may produce a dirt signal that an swr meter may read as reflected power. In this case it may be more accurate set with a unmodified radio also if your radio is setup for a linear it may have a deadkey to low for the swr meter to calibrate correctly.
Hope this was of help.

Radioshack trc-487

Sorry can not suggest even the addition of a aftermarket mic it would be to much hassle to rewire to that 5 pin plug.
Don't spread coils!!!!
Besides it is an older unit that has obviously set unpowered for long periods this makes it a good candidate for dry capacitors.
Don't forget that antenna system when looking for increased radio performance a good antenna(tall) and good shielded coaxial cable can make or break the setup.
Hope this was of help

Cobra 29 ltd classic has no key watts

Not sure why you removed a resistor, but apparently it was needed in order to make the radio transmit properly. Put the resistor back in, or a new one of the same value. If you don't know the required value (because it was fried, etc.), I'd recomend bringing it to a shop, as there is most likely something else wrong with the unit.

If you really want to try and repair it yourself, and don't know the value, check out the schematics at the link below; just be sure that you are looking at the schematics that pertain to your radio, as there are a number of different versions of the Cobra 29.

My 2950 dont make a sound. &wont transmit it ben in storage awhile.whats wrong?

If it was working fine before storage it is most likely electrolytic capacitors. These "can" looking things that are all over the circuit board. These little cans are filled with electrolyte like a battery. If this leaks out or evaporated as they are known to do they will render useless or degrade circuit voltage and current in circuit.

Hi malone

This sounds like a ground maybe a little loose ground in side the radio. Let me ask you if you can still use the radio with it off of freq. or does totally loose its brains with no rx or tx on right channel while it is displaying the freq. drift? reason i want to know is there is alot circuits that are involved in this radio for both the display and actual freq. error.
