Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook
I have a IBM Thinkpad Pentium 4 model 2366. Press down power button, sometimes you have to press it a few times, Lights come on and then go off and all that remains on is the: battery status light & power z light, but processor will not come on. I have to unconnect everything, take out battery and move the "cmos" batt. around, then put the battery back in hit power and it will finally come on. I noticed there is a screw missing from the part that holds cmos in place. I just found out about the cmos, so could you tell me what exactly it does, if it sounds like it needs repacement and do I have to do somthing with password or whatever to make a new one work? orrr can I just put in a new screw? Have no idea what could have happened to the old one, but I know the whole process is becoming a big pain. Can you please advise. Thanks suz
Get that screw in 1st mate. Then if you still have no luck it may be worth trying a BIOS Update. I'm sure there is one for that laptop on the manufacturers website.
