I have a toshiba DVR-3 Dvd recorder. What format of disc needed

Does it need DVD-R or DVD+R or -RW or+RW. I'm trying to record some shows saved to my cable box and it doesn't like the DVD+R disc that I'm using. Any help would be appriciated I come from the time of slide rules Thanks J

It needs DVD-R or RW format to record.
