My battery is new but I lost power when changing LCD screen. Battery has charge. Is there an internal fuse or something?

  • hayestim16 Dec 18, 2008

Why did I have power before but not now? What will re-installing the LCD screen make a difference?

  • hayestim16 Dec 18, 2008

    Thanks for your help.

The connection from the power button to the power circuit might have been loose or disconnected upon changing the LCD screen. If you can redo the LCD replacement please do. Also double check continuity of the power when you open the camera. What you can try initially is clean the metal contacts between the battery case on the cam. Maybe the battery is not reaching the metal contact points so you may need to pull it a little upward.

You might have done something wrong when you were replacing LDC. check the connections, try taking LCD out and put it back but follow your steps carefully this time.

You don't have to replace your battery, but trying a different one is not a bad idea just keep that in mind. But anyways, you know that plugging it to the A/C power does the same thing, so if it doesn't come on while plugged in then you don't need to worry about batteries, worry about the camera it'self.

Do you get a charging indicater when you plug it in to the charger cord?

No internal battery. After the batteries are in the camera for 2 hours, there is enough charge in the camera to hold on to settings for 6 hours. If you take longer than that to install fresh batteries, the settings are lost. Here's what the manual says:

DATE/TIME

DATE/TIME

OKOK:At the time of purchase and after leaving the camera for a

long period with the batteries removed, settings such as the

date and time are cleared. Once the AC power adapter has

been connected or the batteries have been installed for 2

hours or more, the camera settings will be retained for

roughly 6 hours even if both sources of power are removed.

try replacing the battery. Check best buy, radioshack or other camera dealers for a battery. Possible deadcell battery. These lith-ion batteries die with no warning. If there is no change, the camera is defective!! hopefully htis helps
