I need a diagnostic tool for RAID falure code 0. Initial boot indicates degraded condition. DISK scan does not seem to remedy the issue. Did the drive actuually fail? Is there a fix? Primary disk still...

It looks like you have two arrays here. The first one being a mirrored RAID array and has only one disk. This means that the other disk has failed in some sort. This does not mean that the drive is bad, just the RAID failed for some reason. You will need to rebuild the RAID if you want to maintain the same level of redundancy.

You can just attempt a rebuild the RAID to the same drives but if this fails you will want to replace the bad drive. In order to do this you will need to make sure you can tell which drive is which. You do not want to mirror the bad drive to the good one.

If attempting a rebuild to the existing drive does not work or is not an option (because the failed drive could really be bad), you will need to determine which physical drive needs to be replaced. You may be able to hot-swap the drive but if you can power things down, that is always safest. Once the new drive is installed, you can rebuild to it and all should be well after that.

Put the original setup CD-ROM into your CD-drive.
Restart the computer.
Tell it to "boot" from the disk in the CD-drive.
Choose "repair an existing Windows installation",
and let it fix the problem.
Remove the CD-ROM disk.
Restart your (repaired) computer.

Sony Optical Drive Optiarc CD-RW CRX880A Problem!

First, I would try burning at a very slow speed to see if this helps. If it doesn't help and you think the burner is just worn out you can buy a USB burner for about $50

Acer 6930 recovery problem

About the only thing to try is to find another person with the same PC.

Remove the disk-drive from your computer.
Remove the disk-drive from the other computer,
and install your disk-drive.

Run the Restore Disks on that computer,
which will restore to _YOUR_ disk-drive.

When complete, remove the disk-drive, and reinstall it in your computer.
It should boot, and run properly.

Could it be your CD-ROM drive that is intermittently failing?

Unmountable boot volume acer 3000 aspire

Unmountable boot volume is Hard Disk Partition lost.
There are two partition on hard disk, one is NTFS & FAT32, if this two partition are damage or lost, then you have lost your data also.
Reformat on it are the best way result and put new windows system.

You can recover your pictures after reformat by using a program RECOVERMYFILES, this program even when your windows system got reformatted can recover all of it.

Good luck!

Please don't forget to rate me.
Thank you.

Hello nascarmom60,

If there is a disk in the cd tray, remove it and try rebooting. If the problem comes back again then the operating system may be corrupt and will need to be restored if you have a restore disk available.

Another thing you might want to try is to reboot and press the F2 key as soon as the ACER logo appears on the screen to bring up the setup screen.

•The top row of the setup screen shows the menu choices (Information, Main, Security, Boot, Exit). The bottom 2 rows show which keys to use to move around in the setup screen.

•Use the right arrow key to move to the 'BOOT' menu option. The boot menu shows the order of devices accessed for booting the system. The order should be 1:IDE 1, 2:IDE 0, 3:USB FDD followed by other numbers.

•IDE 1 is the cd drive - IDE 0 is the hard drive. It's possible that the ACER AS5315 was trying to boot up on the cd drive (IDE 1) instead of the hard drive (IDE 0).

•Use the right arrow key to 'EXIT' the setup screen then use the down arrow to select 'Exit Discarding changes'. Press enter. I hope this is useful and a full system restore will not be required.

I thank you for giving a rating to this solution if it has been helpful.

Have a great day,
martyshaw562
