Ensure the DVD rec is conected correctly and you can see a picture on your TV from the DVDr. See if there is an "in-put" button. It might be lables Line-In, or Input or simply be a circle with an arrow pointing into it. Also try channel down, past channel one, sometimes is scrowls through the A inputs.

I can't record a DVD from VCR. I tried hooking straight to front av jacks,no luck. I have dish network it's set on channel 25,video 1 on the tv. No problem recording from dish, just can't get it to record...

You need to select front AV as you video source on the DVD recorder if using the front AV phono connectors. Make sure the lead you use from the VCR is working y connecting the AV leads directly to your TV if possible.

Awa dvd recorder dr711 can this be connected to a set top box

If it's like the DR620 it will only receive analogue from the TV aerial. I connect the AV out connections on my set box to the inlet AV on the recorder and watch and record through the recorder's "rear AV input" selection.

Are you using AV cables (Red, Yellow, White).

Connecting and recording sony hdtv, rdr-hx780 recorder, sony dream system

I have the same system, except for the TV, I have a project (that part doesn't matter).

From your Sat. go straight to your AV receiver
Again from you Sat. (all of the AV outputs are all live), go out from either 1 or 2 and go to your recorder Line 1 in.
From you AV receiver go to your TV.

All you have to do is hit record and you will record whichever channel you are on. I am having difficulty getting it set up as a PVR, but will figure it out sooner or later.

Hope this helped.

I have a d-vr5sc and I would life to know how to record multiple VHS onto a single dvd. I have a number of short home movies that should fit easily onto one disc

Record them one by one using an av cord with the AV output of your VCR plugged into the AV input of your DVD recorder. After they are all recorded, finalize them.
