Check cables again Also setting for tv if set higher then max resolution tv wont display hold power button til system beeps and then shuts off to reset turn system back on with both supplied cable and HDMI connected and go between both settings to adjust HDMI if you have turtle beach headset connected for Sound to go through both tv and headset Audio output must be set to Multi output set to ON headset will be downscaled to Channel 2
sure the Component AV Cable is connected to the AV Multi Out port on
the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the
Component AV Cable into the video and audio RCA jacks of the TV or
the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of
the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of
the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the
light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then
back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the ON/OFF
button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
3. Turn on
the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering
up, the Video Output Settings will automatically be reset to the
standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of
Hi,The settings on the PS3 are sending the video signal throught the hdmi port. Either go through the XMB via sys settings, display settings,or if you only have a low def tv then hold the power for 5 seconds (when you turn it on i belive) and it resets it. You may have to adjust the audio settings at the same time, because if you pressed yes when the HDMI was first connected, you agreed to send the audio signal via hdmi as well.
Make sure everything is pluged in correctly and the Playstation 3 is on stand-by. The using the power button on the console hold it for about 5 seconds till you hear two beeps. And this will reset the display settings.
When you hooked up the HDMI did you go into display settings and change all the PS3 settings to HDMI instead of AVI? I thought my HDMI wasnt working, just a blank screen but I could hear the sound, then it hit me..... change the video and display settings to HDMI and poof, there was the pic. lol
This happened to me a few years back so I apologize if it's not 100% accurate. If you can get it to work on another TV, go ahead and connect it to that, and go in to the settings to select the video input. If it's connected through an HDMI cable, then it will probably be set to HDMI. Change the input here to whatever cable you used in the living room. You will have to power it off at this stage, but when you connect to the other TV it should work.
When you switch from one cable connection to another (Hdmi to AV etc) you need to reset the PS3 to its default settings. Basically what is happening is, your PS3 is set to HDMI, so when you plug in AV cables it doesn't know it. So you have to reset it. Hook your PS3 up to whatever cables (make sure system is fully off) then hold the front power button down for a few seconds.
Doing this will reset the display settings. You can then go into the XMB (main menu) and choose your connection. Although the PS3 should do this during the start up on its own.
try using the composite cables as well.....with your tv set to the composite input go back into the settings and select the HDMI output switch your tv's input back to your HDMI input and remove the composite cables....it should work fine...
Here's one solution, if you have an audio output from your tv, you can go from the audio output on your tv to the audio input on your receiver that way anything that is playing on your tv for example, playstation 3, dvd player etc. Anything playing on your tv will have audio on your onkyo home theater system. The other thing I would try if you want to hook ps3 directly to receiver is go to your connection settings on your ps3 menu and change your connection method to digital optical cable.
