Question about Apple MP3 & Digital Media Players

6 Answers

My wife and I both have the iphone 3G. They are registered and when we sign on to itunes it recognizes the different names for each phone as well as serial number. Each was registered with a different email address as well. What we are experienceing is that each phone is downloading the others information. Thus either my music is on hers and then she deletes it and places her music on hers. Then when I sync my phone her music is downloaded and thus the circle continues

when in itunes it recognizes the different serial number of the 2 phones as well as the different names for each phone. THey were also bought about 3 weeks apart and not a the same time so the chance of it being a registration problem at the phone center is very remote

All you need to do is disable the auto-sync feature. See image below, make sure the "Automatically Sync When the iPhone is Connected" is unchecked.

When you buy music from iTunes from your computer and then sync to your phone, it will sycn all the music regardless of who bought it. Just make sure that when you sync to select only the songs that you want.

This is a very common issue from iTunes, but it has nothing to do with your registrations or anything like that. Keep in mind that all the music that you buy goes to iTunes from the same computer you both are using, and when you sync automatically, iTunes is sending all the music is has in it to your iPhones regardless of who paid. example: if i go there and sync my phone to your iTunes i would be able to get all the songs you bought too on my phone.

My wife and I have the same situation, there is no answer unless you each use another computer, or set it "not to sync", or sync Manually. This way it won't add programs and files unless you want it to, best of luck with the new toys, we love ours, Gym

Justset them to sync manually instead of automatically, as I mentioned before, I have 6 wireless devices and it will try to sync either phone the same way. And it realizes that they are 2 different phones. Laptop with Vista desktops with xp all do the same thing. Uncheck the sync auto buttonand that's it, Gym

How do i register my new ipod

Try connecting it to a computer. This is weird because the first thing it asked when turning it on, is for resgistration.
But use a computer, conenct it to iTunes (you must have iTunes in order to work). Once iTunes recognize it, if it isn't register it should recognize as simply iPod, once the iPod is register, then it should recognize it as "yourname's iPod". Good luck.

Iphone scren just displays connection cord pointing up towards itunes icon

Yes, that means you must connect your iPhone to a computer and manage it over iTunes (also in your computer).
If you must restore, try this:

Go to this website: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

you will see there 2 selections: (1) iPod; and (2) iPhone / iPod touch.

Focus on iPhone / iPod touch and select iPhone 3G (3.1.2/7D11) or iPhone 3G S (3.1.2/7D11) - depending on whether your device is a 3G or a 3G S - and then click download. Tip: it's better if you save it on your desktop.

After the download is finished, open iTunes from your computer, and select your device. You should see the restore button there but before you click it, you must first, hold Alt (or Option) if your using a Mac, or CTRL if your using Windows, once your already holding the appropriate buttons, click restore. This will let you choose what software version you want to restore in your iPhone. So, you must select the one that you just downloaded and click restore.

Now, let me just tell you that "baking up" actually means, creating a back up. It doesn't mean that your iPhone is refusing or moving back. So when you think your iPhone is stuck, just wait a little longer, I mean, do other stuff first and return to your iPhone after 5 or more minutes. Alright...

That should do the trick. Goodluck..

Wifi with itouch 32 gb

I bought my wife and I an IPhone about a month ago and had the same question. In the top left corner you will see 3 wave lines when you are connected to a wireless network. When they are shaded its weak and when they're lit up it's strong. If you bought the 3G when you click on safari it should say in the top left corner 3G. If it doesn't work, download ITunes for free on their website and run some updates for your phone. It's all free just kind of time consuming.

Try going into your internet settings where you can choose to turn on or off the wireless connection which will enable your 3G (or 2G).

Have fun with your new phone!

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod

Try this: turn off your ipod, hold the home button, and plug it into itunes while still holding the home button until a picture of the itunes symbol appears with a cable under it. itunes should say "ipod found in restore mode". This will completely reset your ipod, hopefully fixing any bugs or problems in it. also, you will lose all data saved on the ipod that isn't also backed up by itunes. Music, pictures, and video can be re-synced.

Look into the bottom of the iPod where the USB connects. Make sure none of the pins are bent and that there is no corrosion visible. Also, are you using the same cable when you connect the different devices?

Ipod freeze how do I restart

This method is to restart your ipod without erasing any of your saved things.

1. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. The hold switch is located in the top corner of the iPod. If you see orange, then the iPod is locked. To unlock the iPod, slide the switch in the opposite position.

2. Press and hold the following combination of buttons buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.

For iPod 1G to 3G (scroll & touch wheel iPods): "Menu" and "Play/Pause"

For iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select Center Button"

For iPhone & iPod Touch: "Menu" and "Sleep Button"

For Shuffle: Turn it off. Turn it on. Done.

If you have an iPod Mini or 4th gen iPod or higher, then you need to press the Menu and Select buttons. The Select button is the center button in the middle of the wheel. For older iPods (1G - 3G) you'll need to press the Menu and Play buttons to restart.

Upon reset, your will see the iPod/iPhone name and the Apple logo. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone/iPod is rebooting. If your battery is very low, you may have to attach your iPod/iPhone to a power source.

3. The iPod name and the Apple logo will briefly appear upon a successful restart before advancing to the Main Menu.

4. If you have your iPod/iPhone connected to your computer and iTunes open, then your iPod/iPhone should mount and show up under "Devices" in the left iTunes sidebar.
