How to take apart to move

You have to remove the screen by unsnapping the front bezel then remove the long clips that hold the screen in, once thats done you have to remove about 8 bolts that hold the top half to the bottom half, once this it is alot easier to move.

Have a very old rca projection tv. had in basement than our tv upstairs was hit by the wii- we brought this one upstairs it turns on great but it is very dark. tried to change settings but still remains...

It is either the projection lenses are very dusty or are getting weak. I would clean the projection lenses and try it. It has been a while, so bear with me. The bottom speaker covers should should either have some screws around the edges or just pop off (most are the pop-off kind). Under there, there might be some screws that hold the bezel (that frame around the screen). Remove the screws and remove the bezel. You might have to slide the bezel up to pull it (try bumping up on the lower corners with the heel of your hand). The screen should come off with the bezel (just set it aside and be careful with it). Now the 3 projection lenses(red, blue, and green) and mirror are both exposed. Wipe the dust off the lenses with a damp cloth and follow with a dry cloth. If the big mirror is glass, clean it with a damp cloth (maybe a little glass cleaner) and dry with a clean cloth If it is the foil type mirror, clean it real gently with a damp cloth. The big white plastic lens at the front is cleanable with a clean damp cloth. But unless there is a smoker in the house, I wouldn't mess with it. If you do clean it, be sure to use a circular motion with the pattern on the lens...it scratches easily. Then snap the bezel/lens assembly back on and reassemble the front pieces. It has been a while since I have cleaned one of these. There may be a few differences in getting into the projection area depending on the models. Since the projection tubes are aimed up , the dust really builds up in them.
Hope this helps and good luck with it.

How can i repair the speakers? how can i remove the panel in front?

  • Turn on the TV set, bring up the convergence menu and make sure the three colors--red, green and blue--converge and overlap at the cross in the center of the screen. This is needed to help converge the TV later. Turn off and unplug the TV.

  • 2

Remove the front screen by popping off the bezel and pulling the three combined screens out. Place wide cellophane tape around the frame to prevent the three screens from separating. Lay the screen someplace where it won't be bent or scratched.

  • 3

Remove the circuit board from the bottom of the CRT neck. It may be held in place by one screw or glued in place with silicon. Pull it out without twisting it.

My tv is not turning on. we just moved from one house to another did the move disturb it

you need to take the front panal off to look and see if all three sockets on ctr tubes are seated all the way. the front panal is the one with the power button, vol and ch buttons and aud/vid hook up. first remove the shiny screws from the back on the sides of tv where speaker grils are. remove the speaker grills. then you have four black screws two on each side of panal and two shiney ones on top of panal. remove all six then remove panal careful not to pull too hard on wires. then making sure tv is unpluged, reach in and under the three tube assembelys, push up under the circut boards right center of where the scoket connects to the tube and make sure they are seated all the way. doesnt take much pressure to push on them so dont kill them. also be careful not to do it off center of the board or board or worse the tube will break. if all is well there, you will have to remove more panals and look a little farther for somthing lose or broken. good luck.

The outer screen of my 50" projection tv ripped during a move. Is there any way to find a replacement part for this?

    scherffkids,

Go to http://www.encompass.com and logon as a guest. Type in your units model number in the appropriate block. A list of all the available parts should come up. Type "screen" into the search engine. If available the part number for the screen should come up. There should be three parts to the screen. If you are absolutely sure that you only need the outer screen it should be obvious which one it is.

When you get the screen you will need to remove the front bezel. This usually involves removing the top rear cabinet first. Then there will probably be some screws on the front and finally many screws around the perimeter to get the actual screen out.

Once out you should be able to separate the three sections, install the new unit and using cloth tape, tape the sections together around the perimeter.

Reassemble the unit and you should be done.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

Lift off the speaker covers and you will see 4 screws around each speaker. remove those. Remove the plastic strip that goes across the bottom.

Also will see screws that hold the front bezel on the the Case, I believe there is 3, remove all those screws and lift lightly so you dont break the bezel clips.

Then put back together in the same way.

The focus controls on this set are in the front behind the bezel. I'm not sure, but, I think on this age of Samsung, the screws to the front bezel are on the back side of the set. After removing the screws from the back, the front bezel snaps off and the door behind the bezel need to be removed. Watch the wires connected to the bezel, they need to be attached in order to turn on the set. The focus controls are on a black control block (there are three of them, one for each color). Adjust each color for sharpest picture. I use words on the screen for alignment. Each CRT board has a screen control (Adjust each slowly until retrace lines appear on the screen and then back off until they disappear). You may turn off the color and make sure that the picture is black and white. If it is not, then, which ever color is dominant, back it off a bit with that screen control. Facing the set, Red is left, Green is middle and Blue is on the right. Use only one hand inside an operating television. Do not touch the board, just the controls. This concludes television alignment 101. Any questions respond to this post and I'll reply.
