Can't see this doing too much harm in the long term.

Biggest problem is likely to be that it will froth a bit.

Suggest you run the machine empty on a "rinse and hold" cycle a couple of times. Stand by with a cloth and bucket, so that if the machine does froth up, you can mop up anything that seeps out before it makes a mess on the floor (watch the waste water outlet at the back as well as the front door.

Question: How on earth did you get your 12 year old daughter to put anything in the dishwasher in the first place - it's all I can do to stop mine leaving dirty crockery in her bed!

Can liquid detergents be used in a dishwasher?

Only dishwasher detergent can be used in a dishwasher. Some of them are liquids. Regular liquid detergents such as dish detergent or laundry detergent is too sudsy and it will make so many suds that they will be all of the dishes and the floor if used.

13 year old daughter put liquid dishwashing soap in the rinse dispenser. Now all dishes come out covered in soap scum. How do I get liquid dishwashing soap out of the rinse dispenser?

Sorry but thats funny!!lol About the easiest way I know to tell you is take a turkey baster or marinade injector & draw as much as you can out of the reservoir, fill it with water & repeat until you get very little foam when putting water in it.Fill with rinse aid & the rest will just have to work its way through.Should be fine after a few wash cycles.

I have a Maytag dishwasher that is just over a year old. I still have suds in the bottom when it is finished. What could be wrong?? I have tried liquid vs powder detergent. The dishes are clean and there...

You may want to cut back on the amount of detergent you are using. Your water may be softer than what the detergent manufacture has set there formula guide lines at. Scott

The top rack is not longer getting clean

Using liquid detergent is the worst detergent to use. One possible solution to your problem could be as follows...pour 2 cups of vinegar in to the tub and run it on the hottest longest cycle with no dishes in it. May need to do this several times (3 to 4). This will clean the residue out and what ever "gunk" may be in the internal parts. Use Only powder detergent. No gel, no liquid and no tabs. These 2 cause a build-up over a period of time of use and reduce the performance of your machine. This should take care of your problem.

The dishes don't get clean

Dishes not cleaned properly....

  1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
  2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
  3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
  4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
  5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
  6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
  7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.

Liquid dish soap in the dishwasher

You will get some sudsing, but just soak up what you can with a towel and then run 1 or 2 cycles and you should be OK.

GE Triton XL

Try placing a packet in the bottom of the DW and then start a wash cycle ( use the energy efficient cycle that does not use the heater to dry the dishes..).. if it is not disolved at the end of the cycle then your water temp may not be hot enough..Hope that helps..
