If the new power supply has a 115/230 switch, make sure it is set correctly. Try the power cord in another outlet. If the fans run, watch for the NUM LOCK, CAPS LOCK, AND SCROLL LOCK LED's on the keyboard to flash once when power is applied. If you see those flash but you get no response from the monitor, the monitor may be at fault or disconnected. If the thing seems just dead, pull the power cord and feel on the motherboard for hot devices. particularly an IC with ITE printed on it. I once had a similar problem with an eMachine, where the 5-volt standby voltage from the power supply went wild to the tune of 10 volts! That ITE device was toast, if this has happened, the thing can burn your finger. In my case I replaced the part and the rest of the motherboard lived.

If power does not come to hard disk, cd/dvd etc. then replace the mother board. And if you can put on the cpu and there is no display, then replace the RAM module.

No power when I turn on my T2862. Changed the power supply, still no good. any ideas?

You can try tracing back the wires from the power button on the front panel to the motherboard, look at the prongs it is plugged into. Pull off the power button wires, and use a screwdriver to make contact with the prongs the power button was plugged into. This is a way to bypass the power button switch to eliminate it as a cause for not starting up.

My e machine t 2562 won't power up. I have switched chords, it won't power up at all.

Those computers are notorious for the power supplies going bad...I would bet money thats where your trouble is....replace it with a good quality power supply (between $60-$100).

T2862 wont work -no power goes to it.

emachine?
is it new?
if its not, then check the power supply, there should be a green light on the back of the unit. if this is yellow or not lit at all then the problem is your PSU

crack the case and make sure the PSU cables are connected properly
also while your in there check for swollen capacitors or dust

Can not find heat sink switches on motherboard emachine t2862

Heat sink switches? I have to assume that you're talking about a dead mother board but the fans and the LED on the mother board are OK? This is a classic eMachines problem. Their power supplies glitch and take out the mother board sometimes the power supply goes bad too.

New motherboard for the T2862

Hi,
you probably won,t get it to boot off the original hard-drive. As that will be mated up to the old motherboard.
i,d suggest putting a new hard-drive in, then transfering any required data to the new drive, you should be able to transfer most of your files accross, but will have conflicts trying to copy some windows files. as they,ll be in use by the system.
