Question about Brother MFC 210C All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

Brother MFC210C Pinter/Scanner/Fax message reads ''cover is open''

Hi. ''Cover is open'' message appears on the printing dialog box on computer screen, but no messages are appearing in the little window on the printer/scanner/fax machine. Scanner cover and main cover seem to be closed. The printer starts up only when it is initially plugged into the wall, the scanner light comes on and it makes a few carriage adjustment noises, but no message. On/off button doesn't seem to do anything; only starts up when outlet plug is used. What do you think? Thanks.

if your brother machine is within warranty, give the tech support a call. if not, replace the black cartridge with a new one. it may be a defective cartridge that you have or if you are using refilled cartridges, it will also give the same problem

SOURCE: Brother (photocopier, fax and scanner machine)

I have fixed this problem on my 7820n printer by brother.

open the back door, then inside there will be a black colored other kind of like door that pulls back away from the roller. on this inner door is a black long thin plastic lever that runs from about the center of the inner door to the right. on the right end of it is a lever that slides along a curved increase on the right side wall. when both doors are closed this right end of the rod or lever moves up to close the gap between what is the sensor. this long thin plastic rod had snapped out of place and when i snapped it back in making sure the spring was correctly installed on the left end of it and the middle part of the rod slid correctly in its groove...the right end of the lever correctly closed the gap on the sensor (when both doors are closed) and the back door open error went away.

So that's how you really fix it!!!!

SOURCE: how to recieve a fax threw brother MFC210C

Unlike many all-in-one units, this one can be used as a stand-alone fax machine, not requiring you to use fax software in your computer. Make sure you have a telephone line connected to the LINE jack on the side of the machine, and that you have gone through the fax setup steps in the manual. You can download the manual and a quick setup guide from Brother here if you need a copy. Once the machine is set up and on a phone line, receiving a fax is automatic when someone calls in.

If you are having some specific problem setting up your printer or something is going wrong when it's trying to send or receive a fax, please post a follow-up comment with more detail about the trouble. I'll try to help further if you need it.
