Strange noise coming from new Oster 5 c.f. frige...
Every so often, 15-20 minutes, the frige emits a strange sound, which lasts for a little while...sounds like gas pushing through a restriction, hard.. frige works great otherwise...is this a defect, or characteristic of this model ? Thanks for your expertise...
Re: strange noise coming from new Oster 5 c.f. frige...
I did not post a problem with a wine cooler...We all know that problem was caused by the wrong fuse that was installed at the factory.. My question was about the Oster 5 C.F. frige...no, I did not get any answers...No, I do not want your premium service...I just thought I may get some free insight on my problem...

If I checked out the right video it sounds like a fan motor. After a fan motor heats up and with age the fan will leak a little oil, the oil will become to thin and not cote the bearings well enough. It sounds like the fan trying to start back up after stoping. I would track down the fan motor and replace it.
Where is the noise coming from? Check the fan at the back of the upper compartment. They seem to be defective and die after about 3 years (just outside of warranty... how convenient). I'm dealing with the same issue now. (As search on the internet indicates that we're not alone!) When its making that noise, try pressing the back plate around the little fan and see if it changes the noise.
Hi, could be faulty thermostat, can you check compressor, is compressor running (working), listen to compressor for clicking sound, unplug it(switched off) for about 20 minutes, replug and let it run (work) for another 20 mins. see if temp. drops, what about temp. inside bottle (wine) cooler, is it 98 or colder, more info. could be valuable. check thermostat, check to see if compressor operates, if cooler temp. 98. remove you products, to another cooler, call mechanic.
We have a friend who lives at Berkly Lake, and we went to a wine boutique if you will over near her house. I think they would know who services that unit. I can not think of the name of the store though, but it was pretty close by (3-4 miles) in a small business strip center. I know your close by, being in Peachtree.
Alternative, is to find a Oster appliance repair center. There has to be one in the Atlanta area for sure. Or really, any appliance place that services refrigerators. Heck, I (with my wife), it's her best friend) would come do it for the price of a plane ticket. Our friend could vouch for my knowledge.
I'm not sure how you ended up under this classification;
All Products > Oster > 12-Bottle Wine Cellar - Black > Troubleshooting
but your problem with an undescribed brand and model will not likely ever get a response.
I think your question is in regards to a microwave oven.
Try reposting it with the correct brand and model #.
You said, your Oster wine refrig won't lower its temperature below 76 degrees. I
have it for about 5 months, and it worked fine all this time with a
setting of 50 degrees. Now it refuses to lower its temp. It reverts
back to 76 everytime. Can someone give me any ideas about what is
wrong? FYI Mine did not come with an owner's manual. Sounds like the Thermostat is bad. http://www.oster.com/CustService.aspx?content=manual The tel # in your Oster Manual is a recording and will not help you! But New appliances are under Factory warranty and are fixed or replaced no cost to the customer!you are under
Hello Welcome to fixya. I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,
Sounds like we need to try to reset the system!
Huuum At your service! Lets try this, With an error code. This can reset the system if it is electronic! Unplug the appliance and wait a 5 minutes then restart it. If you can't reach the plug, use the breaker to cut the power for 5 minutes.
It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange! Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious. Or they are sometimes just a glitch.
Let me know how it works! Waiting for your reply! Please remember to leave a rating when you are done! Thank You huuum
