When we try to take a picture on our Vivatar Camera it says, card locked. Please help us with this problem.

Most likely your sd card is locked. Try removing the sd card and moving the small white tab on the side of the sd card from locked to unlocked and give it a try.

I have a sd, 4gb kingston memory card, and when i put it in my camera the camera comes up with "card erro" i go to format card and it does nothing. what do i do

Welcome to FixYa.

I just want to verify the model number of your camera is Vivicam3632 because I'm not be able to see that model for Vivitar digital camera, however there where three reasons why do you receive an error message "card error".

First reason is possible that memory card is not yet formatted for use in the camera, but since, you said that you already formatted the memory card, lets move to the second reason.

Second reason is memory card requires cleaning. You can clean it using soft and dry cloth and after you cleane it, try to format the memory card again. you can also used a clean pencil eraser in cleaning the memory card but please be careful in doing this. You just have to rub it slightly to removed the dirt.

If you still have the same error after doing those two steps, You need to replace the memory car.

"Card error" is also possible of camera malfunction. In this case you have to contact your service center.

Feel free to send us comments or suggestions if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Inserted new memory card error message:memory card error unable to access format under menu

I'm guessing that you bought a new 4GB SDHC card. Although it looks exactly the same as a standard SD card, the format the card uses is very different. Unfortunately your camera was designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, but a SDHC card will not work with your camera.

You'll need to use standard SD cards (usually those 2GB or less). But if you really want to use a 4GB card, do a Google search for 4GB SD "non HC", with the non HC in quotes. Believe Transcend makes one.

Unable to use card

Firstly, what size memory hard do you have? Is it an SDHC? Secondly, have you checked that the memory card isn't locked (there is a switch on the side of it). Has it worked with other memory cards?

SD Card (2GB YES Make) Gives Formatting error

If you have a card reader or a printer with an SD card slot in it, try formatting the card or deleting all files on it using a PC. My laptop has a slot built-in I'm able to use. Check out your options. Try formatting it outside of your camera. I've heard of some card swapping between brands of cameras doing crazy stuff as you are experiencing.

Card will not format

memory card? and SD card? whatever the card hook your camera to a usb to computer and find it under "my computer"

look at all your drives you should have like c, d , e, f, g, h, select the last drive and see if it finds your card if so try formatting it through the computer, whatever you do dont select c or d to format. if problem persists buy a new SD. I find good deals on ebay or Walmart.

Error 30

The "E30" error code indicates reading/writing data on a SD card has failed. Especially, the error code "E30" may appears when you tried to remove a SD card while the camera was processing data. Solution To clear the "E30" error, try performing the following procedure. 1. Try using another SD card. If you have another SD card, try loading it in the camera. If the error code is not displayed when the other SD card is loaded, there may be something wrong with the first one rather than with the camera. 2. Use your computer's ScanDisk utility to check the SD card for errors. Use ScanDisk to check the SD card for card error or card failure. Refer to the instruction manual for your operating system or Windows Help for further instructions. (If you are using a Macintosh, use the "Disk First Aid" program to check for card error or card failure. Refer to the instruction manual for your Macintosh OS for further information.) Be sure to back up the data on the SD card on the computer before you check the SD card. If a card error or card failure occurs when you use your computer's ScanDisk, there is something wrong with the SD card. Follow ScanDisk's on-screen instructions to solve the problem. 3. Format the SD card with your camera Try to format the SD card with your camera. Please refer to the "Camera User Guide" for your camera for instructions on formatting SD cards. Also, please note that formatting a SD card will erase all data on the card. Once the SD card is formatted, follow the procedure described in step 2 above and use your computer's ScanDisk on your computer to check the SD card for errors. If a card error or card failure occurs when you are using computer's ScanDisk, there is something wrong with the SD card.
