I have an HP Laserjet 3300 multifunction printer. I could not use because of the "upgrade error" showing on the window, no other functions would work.. what should I do? I could not get help with this HP Support Team w/o paying the "Judas Fee", I refuse to pay b/c I felt I was deceived by this company in selling a defective product with a planned obsolescence scheme.
In some of my research, I come across a problem called burned formattor, I don't know the meaning and if have it repaired, how much do you think would it cost me. Is it smart to have repair or just buy a new machine (for sure it would no longer be HP).

This is why doing Firmware Upgrades is so risky. The firmware tells the printer what to do when it switches on before self testing and loading software. If the Firmware is corrupt, the printer becomes a giant paperweight. Help here
Hs it been configured for network printing and assigned an ip, gateway, subnet etc? Is it a stand alone IP printer or on a server as a printer object?
More information is needed to diagnose.
If it was working and now is not, try shutting it off, then turning back on, clear all pending or hug print jobs too.

I couldn't find an error code of 55.50 in the service manual. All 55.xx errors are DC Controller problems. I did find the message "resend upgrade". That refers to a Firmware upgrade that didn't complete successfully. If that's what happened in your case...restart the upgrade and keep away from the printer until the upgrade finishes.

This happens when the printer is printing duplex job. i.e. trying to print the other side of the page.
However check the functionality of the printer by performing Paper path test.
This would help us to know whether the printer as a stand alone ... is fine or not.
From the control panel of the printer, scroll to Diagnostic > paper path test.
Select the following in sequence.
Source: All trays
Copies: 10
Duplex: ON
Print Test Page
Check if you get the same error.
If yes, upgrade teh firmware of the printer.
Let me know the end result. We still have more depending on the above test.
