We have an Oster 78950-100-700 model and I dont' think it worked out of the package. It seems that the head does not move. It is like the bottom blade is putting to much pressure on the top blade and so...

The two screws of the blade guide are tightened completely. Adjust the tension between the blade and the blade guide with the large plastic screw on the side of the trimmer (this allows the blade to move rapidly from side to side). I plug it in at this time and when the cutting blade begins to move the clipper makes much louder noise. This is normal but it sounds like it is broken, it isn't. Adjust the cutter slightly past movement. You don't want it to bounce on the guide

Reattaching the blades

The blade (the small one with several holes) gets attached to the slide spring (the thin pieces of metal with a small gap between them), through the two diamond shaped holes, with tension on the slide spring keeping the blade in position. The blade guide, the large plate with only two holes, gets mounted with the two screws. The rough surfaces of both blade and blade guide face each other.

Had my #10 blade sharpened and now have several probs w blade and

You may know the first part of this, but...
Ordinarily, the blades are removed and replaced as follows:
There is a small gun-metal colored bar at the very rear, just below the back of the blade. It pushes inward, in the direction of the blade. Push it firmly in and pull up on the teeth of the blade. It should pop upward. You can then remove the blade from the tongue that it sits upon. When you want to put it back, slide the blade back on the tongue, then, WITH THE MOTOR TURNED ON, push the blade down to its seated position. It will click into place.
In your case the retaining clip may have broken off. With the blade removed, push that same gun metal colored bar in. You should see the other end of it move in unison just behind the nylon cog that moves the blades when they are installed. Check the tip of that other end to see that the "turned back on itself" rounded portion is there. That's what holds the blade on. If it is missing, you will have to replace the part (the tongue part has to be removed to do so since the retaining clip part is under it, with a small spring holding it in place). A new one can be obtained, I think, at:

You say that you had the blade sharpened. By someone who knew what he or she was doing, I hope. It is possible that whoever sharpened it, reassembled it improperly so that the area where the retaining clip connects is too far toward the rear of the blade (opposite the teeth) and the clip is unable to click over it into place. If you look at the back of the blade, you will see the small slot just about in the center where the nylon drive cog fits to move the blade back and forth when it is mounted. Just below that there is a plate with two tabs extending toward the teeth. The part of that plate (toward the teeth) that has a slight indentation is where the retaining clip clicks into place. If it is not doing so, then either the clip is broken or the blades are not assembled properly. You can try (careful blade assembly is tricky in regard to getting them straight) to loosen the two screws and very carefully move that plate enough (very little should be required) toward the teeth so that the clip will hold. I would make very sure that the clip is not broken before doing that.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Dont know how to install blade

on blade you will notice two small phillips head screws. remove both screws with thumb on blade. with other hand remove the blade. Blade has two parts. The smaller blade lays on top of the larger blade. align two blades together. Hold the blade compartment in your hand upward with smaller blade on top of the larger blade. On the clipper in between the two hole where screws go there is a small arm with a round shaped tip. Put the base on to the blades a fixing the round shaped arm into the blades ensure proper fitting. With hand holding the clipper turn over while thumb is holding the blades in place and replace screws.

Wahl 8550 Pet Clippers Won't Work

Tried the above solutions but it all keeps falling apart. It's a wahl pro series rechargeable. There are two screws, large blade, small blade, white plastic part and a silver bracket that seems to slide on the white plastic part. What goes in first? How do I assemble it? How do blades match? Do the grooves on large blade fit into small blade? Help, I can't reassemble it. Thanks in advance! Pam

Wahl razor's not cutting, how do I fix it?

have you tried taking apart the blades and replacing them so that they line up together? Have you had a professional shear sharpener look at your blades? mabie all they need is to be sharpened again. Blades like knives or scissors need to be sharpened every once in a while. Also try replacing the blades with a new ones. The blades may have worn out. also try oiling the blades every once in a while.

Fell apart..help please!!!

The larger white pieice that has holes in it should be connected between both the spring and the smaller razor, The bottom of the larger white peice has to be able to fit in the peice of medal that moves in a circular motion inside the top part.

First, Try to make the hooks of the spring go in pretty securly inside the small holes. The flat side of the white peice has to be connected to the flat side of the smaller razor. They should kinda snap together on the top hole. I had to gently place the parts together and push the larger white peice in the medal by placeing the larger razor peice right on top and pressing down really hard. You might hear some snapping but the peices should all connect together and the large medal peice should connect to the black groves and press hard. Hold in place while putting the screws back in.

Fallen apart shaver

This has happened to me several times. You just slip the metal tab sticking out of the blade assembly ( the flip up part} back in the slot until it snaps in to place.
